$2500.00 Summary: The first amazing thing about this amp, is its size. While most receiver are huge and high, this Thule is just 10cm (4 inches) high.
We could have believed this is due to the lack of video switching (This AV100 is only an audio receiver), but the AV100S (the one with video switching) is not higher.
So where is the tips ? Are the 6 channels really able to produce 100W@8ohms ?
That's the second amazing thing about this amp : there is enough power to drive a lot of speaker. And even if I would clearly choose something else if I've got 15 inches speakers all over the room, I need to say that this Virtual Class A amplification system is very impressive. It gives not only a bunch of power, but it does it very well at any level.
Those who want even more power would go for the AV120 (for 120W).
Otherwise, the AV100 is very easy to use. It has all you need to configure your system, but don't buy it if you are looking for a toy with plenty of gadget to play with : this AV100 has almost no gadget every brand new Receiver has, no calibration system, no 500 differents DSP, and it does not make Cofee either : it just does the sound you need to enjoy music and film.
But it does not forget the future, as the Motorolla chipset can be upgraded.
To sum up, this amp is one of the best I've tried. Strengths: - Musicality (in stereo as in Home Theater)
- Size
- Does all, and does it well (Audio only)
- true multichannel analog input Weaknesses: - some very rares units seems to had some shielding problems Similar Products Used: No receiver, but a lot of processor...from EAD, ADA, Lexicon, Rotel...
