Review NaN of , from Newcatle , UK

Price Paid:  $69.00 from Ebay, s/h

Summary:
Well , even for £69 pounds i would not recommend this amp.The reason is simple : even for £100 you could get these days a marantz (pm4200) or a cambridge that surely ,on the whole , will be better that this amp.
Sound is ok ,average with medim-low detail, a bit crispy though but nothing special. Highs are ok but some times overdefined and harsh , midrange somewhat clear. A bit laid back , dynamics medium and not quite good at separation ;soundstaging not there. I could live with all that since the price is low if the amp hadn't one major flow - low frequensy responce. Bass is fatty , smudged and all over the place up to the lower midband. No control , no focus , no nothing.Don't even try to use it with standmounts that can't handle bass. At low volume my B&W's (602 s3) woofer was moving like it was made plasteline.
At a damping factor of 60 (and i though paper specs did not mean anything)this amp really losses control over the speakers on the lows . Also, distorion is present at medium volume.
I would still say , ok its only £69 s/h but since there are there many cheap amps , why bother while you get a NEW much better amp for around £50 more ??
It is somewhat neutral and could propably fit soneone with a low budget just looking to play some music rather an audiophile.
If you find it really really cheap , ok i cannot totally write off the amp but just don't think it will be something of quality sound ,more like a "just play music" amp.

Strengths:
Cheap nowadays , remote , two sets of speakers , power ,quality godd at the price.Midrange ok, kinda neutral

Weaknesses:
Distortion present at medium levels , high can be harsh, laid back ,weak sounstaging, undetailed , not that refined , need speakers that can handle bass, totally uncontrolable bass, messy low frequensies and undefined
