Summary:
All I can say is that the sound from this good looking, solidly built little baby was better than the Arcams, NADs, ROTELs and Marantz's and so on from the same price range.

I use the amp with a pair of B&W601S2s and a ROTEL RCD991 CD player.

To my ears, and with the above kit, the amp deals with bass, middle and treble equally well... whereas all the other amps couldn't get it right in all three areas.

I read the various review and most give it 4 stars.

This is a great time to buy one too because the range is being stopped I think and they're being given away for around £250. I took advantage of this recently by pairing it up with a Myryad T60 power amp to bi-amp my kit. This seems to give the sound more freedom but, credit to the T40, doesn't make the marked difference that bi-amping with the competition probably would. This is a credit to the T40, not a slur on the T60. If the T60 hadn't been on clearance for £150 (yes, that's right), I wouldn't have bothered but for £150, need I say more.

Back to the T40, in summary it's smooth but crisp and puncy at the same time.

I love it and wouldn't swap it for anythin I've heard that's less than £600 in the shops.

Strengths:
Very well built, remote, phono stage, beat the other sub-£400 amps (in my ears). Output for bi-amping.

Weaknesses:
Sorry, can't think of one.

Summary:
I used to own a Denon PMA 250SE and decided I needed an upgrade (I also ended up upgrading Speakers and CD Player - as you do!).
I compared the Myryad with the Marantz and Arcam and delt that whilist in some areas the Marantz beat the Myryad for clarity and detail and the Arcam for smoothness I felt the Myryad was the better "all rounder".
The treble is clear and the bass weighty and smooth. It was the only amp that seemed to go with the Denon CD Player (DCD835) and Monitor Audio Speakers (Silver 5).
With the Marantz I felt the Speakers ended up a little sceechy.
One thing I would say is that when I bought the amp I had never heard of Myryad and nearly didn't buy it for that reasn alone and was tempted to go for one of the other amps mentioned for peace of mind. I am happy that I went for the Myryad - I've had no problems and the build quality is excellent.
Incidentally, two of the main engineers at the company used to work for Arcam and NAD and when you listen to their products they seem to have found a happy medium between the two.

Summary:
I've owned many amplifiers over the years,from tube,to transistor,to hybrids.So I've heard it all.Currently I'm into transistors,for there great detail.For a small integrated amp the T-40 sounds prety good.It even has a phono section.I still play a lot of LP's This amp does not have that midrange dip that many British amps and speakers have.You know,that designed in midrange depression,to make the amp or speakers sound as if the music has more depth and air.Well.this amp has none of that!It sounds finely detailed and sweet.If you need an integrated amp that has a remote,clean styling,great sound,and a phono section,this might be the amp for you.
