Price Paid:
$500.00
from Audio Advisor Summary: I gave this a try because of great reviews and Musical Fidelity's reputation for great music-making. The sound was clean even at loud volumes. Highs and mids are quite good, but the lack of bass is inexplicable and unsatisfying. It makes the amp sound a tad bright and robs it of it's ability to convey rhythm.
The Audio Refinement Complete is much better, has a remote, and I paid only $100 more at Audiogon.
Sonus Faber Concertinos Panasonic DVD A-310 (doubles as CD player) DH Labs interconnects Analysis Plus speaker cables Strengths: clean musical sound Weaknesses: no remote, not much bass, seemed slow Similar Products Used: NAD T750 receiver Creek 5250 Audio Refinement Complete

Review 2 of 17
Price Paid:
$600.00 Summary: As you can read in the reviews a lot of people say the amp is underpowered. I agree that the 50 Watts the amp can deliver might be a bit low and you will mis that "Punch" in the low/sublow area of the tune your playing. But as for any problem there is a solution... the X-AS100, a 100 watt per channel Dual Mono block. It might be a bit X-Pensive but its worth every penny!
Anywayzz to get back to the X-A1 it is a very Musical amp and will surprise you everytime you listen to it. The clarity is amazing, mids very good and the base allways low, the amp really makes you Enjoy the music. Absolutely a wicked amp! And they reactions are alway nice because of its strange looks people are always wondering what that strange thing is you have in your living room.
For now i'm just using the X-A1 with B&W DM603 S2 (Henley hsp100 Interconnect with Ixos 613 Super Strand 4mm speaker Cable) and a Denon cd player (The dcd 460) The CD Player and the speaker cables are going to be out of work soon becuase i'm planning on buying the X-Ray and the X-AS100.
Strengths: Nice open sound, warm, at all kinds of volumes Weaknesses: No remote Similar Products Used: None

Review 3 of 17 Summary: I have auditioned a Variety of AMPs before concluding my choice will be the XA1....Beatifully constructed, extremely stiff chasis, perfect workmanship and excellent look and feel, it was love at first sight. Powered up, linked to a Marantz CD6000OSE and Dynaudio Audience 40. I was literally blown away. SUperby clear highs, smooth and tubey midrange , and strong tight bass....What else can I ask for??
GO give it a try, and prepare to be blown away!!! Strengths: Clean, clear sound, quality bass, beautiful mids Weaknesses: no remote Similar Products Used: Jolidia JD1301, Marantz Pm7000, Nad 370, Exposure 20, Aura Va-50, Rotel Ra971, Krell 300i, Cyrus 7

Review 4 of 17 Summary: Got this 2nd hand from a dealer at a very good price. After getting home, I immediately plugged in to do some critical listening...what can I say, the hype about musical fidelity is true!!!! Their stuffs are truly musical. Everything juz sounds right. And one thing I noticed, this AMP is very revealing, it will bring out the slightest details in the music and present it to you. Bass is taut, midrange is excellent!!!
One thing to note, the use a good cables is critical to bring out the best from this fellow. I swapped around a few before settling on a set of VDH to do the job. Strengths: Musicality, tube like midrange, excellent bass, very revealing Weaknesses: need careful cables matching to bring out the best Similar Products Used: Marantz, Nad, Talk electronics, Audiolab, Jolida, Exposure, Naim, Kenwood

Price Paid:
$650.00
from terry anderson hi-fi Summary: I was wanting to upgrade my old (like 10years old) system to something new that i would be happy with for another long time and tried a few combos of reasonably priced high quality systems. I found the combination of the XA-1, an X10-D ( my HK cd player is looking to be replaced very soon) and the klipsch rf3 speakers and was out the door a very happy man. And i continue to be amazed at the performance of this system, as they continued to burn in over the next month or so. The smooth sound of the XA-1 i feel is just perfect to run the very efficient (but tending toward sharpness) of the klipsches. Whether sitting back enjoying some acoustic sounds or pumping out some dance or rock, the XA-1's sound always appears seemless. And they look great. There of course has been a few calls of "what the hell is that in the shelf". It's so nice not too have another bloody black box in the living room. And it's tempting to look at the other MF stuff with longing. I think that I'll order the x-cans v2 this week.
Strengths: warmth and detail Great looks Weaknesses: no remote Similar Products Used: harmon kardon integrated amp
