Price Paid:  $550.00

Summary:
upgraded from A2.the 25 more Watts of power made the bass deeper and tighter.highs and mids are better than A2 too.i should go for the A220 earlier.

Review 2 of 12

Price Paid:  $400.00

Summary:
I have really enjoyed my A220, however if you want more power then a pair of XA50 mono blocks can be used from the per outs for Bi Amping. Although the XA 50's are only 50 watts the gain is the same and you end up with all the head room you could need and it firms the bass.

Strengths:
Sweet analytical On certain tracks it beats my mate £4000 maridian set up.

Weaknesses:
Don't try to unplug the speaker cables when drunk as the amps end up back at Musical Fidelity for fixing

Review 3 of 12

Price Paid:  $300.00 from s/h

Summary:
One of the most enjoyable amps i''ve used -warm, detailed, powerful, not at all tiring to listen to unlike some ''class a'' amps. I''ve tried upgrading but keep going back to this amp. Looks & sounds great - if you can find one second hand it''s definitely worth a listen.

Strengths:
great looks and sound

Weaknesses:
none

Review 4 of 12

Price Paid:  $600.00 from Ebay

Summary:
I bought the slightly used one at Ebay and have been listening for last 10 months. I am not a professional for
audio system. But I feel the power is enough and the sound is warm as same as my previous int.amp,Marantz(very old one. I bought it 20 years ago).
I have a Yamaha amp. for theater system. But I don't listen
the music thru it. Because its sound is too sharp and not warm at all.

Review 5 of 12

Price Paid:  $800.00 from Carlton Audio Visual

Summary:
If you're on a budget and you want an excellent amp then this is it. Great sound stage and frequency re-production. Needs speakers that are reasonably efficient (>86dB) to sound at it's best. Not good for big Electrostats but superb otherwise. Excellent amp for testing speakers with, allows you to very easily pick their faults with cross-overs, cabinet design and cone selection. Detail in the amp is excellent as is just about every other aspect. Presentation is superb and general feel of the amp is great (heavy dials and solid switches).
An excellent amp with plenty of guts, more than its stated power rating really implies. Well worth the audition.
Value for money listening in the $US1000-$2000 category.

Strengths:
Consitant production of ALL frequencies even very low and very high.

Weaknesses:
Heat when driven hard. Inability to drive big electrostatic speakers.

Similar Products Used:
Various Pre/Power stages 2-4 times price.

Marantz MA-9S2 Power AmplifierThe list above has one tenet that I continue to hold true: high powered amplifiers are necessary to reproduce the full dynamic range of music with most speakers. This became apparent when I changed from the 100 Watt per channel Bella Extreme 100 to the 250 Watt.....

The unit arrived from China well packed and everything seem to be in place. No external abuse by the carriers. The only problem was the power supply it came with. The box came with a cheap step-down converter.
