Bottom Line: When my HK630 became faulty, i decided to buy a new amplifier. Actually i have purchased three of them: Harman/Kardon HK670, Yamaha AX-496, Nad C320BEE. This review about HK670. The HK670 has won EISA award in 2002-2003. The appearance of amplifier is not a standart one, but that's a matter of taste. Amplifier has solid construction with big transformer in the middle and heavy heatsinks on both sides. On each channel are installed 2 capasitors 12000 mkf. HK670 has 80 W per channel with power consumption 400 W. Now let's listen how it sounds. First of all it's Harman/Kardon amplifier, so it manages to sound in a pretty enjoyable way. Amplifier makes the musik a little softer, than it is. The HK670 is a little more detailed, than HK630 but it does not seem as powerful as rated. The soundstage is OK. This amplifier you can listen for hours, you will never be tired. However there is something that losing HK670 even to smaller model HK630 - it is the bass range. The bass of HK670 is well defined, but there is less drive, than necessary, no so much solidity, so it is not as good as in previous Harmans. Maybe somebody wiil like it more, but i like typical Harman/Kardon sound with perfect drive capability in the musik. Anyway HK670 remains a good amplifier for general tastes. What about me, i am using HK670 and waiting for new Harman/Kardon amplifier with sound of HK630 which i like more.
