Summary:
Very impresssive and powerfull amp, vith tremendous head-room and easy listening characteristics. Warm and at the same time very clear and detailed. The bass is the most firm and solid bass I have ever had, and there are simply more notes audible than prevoius high-end amps I have tried. Depth and wide perspektives are impressive. The mid and high are clean, and even the top shows more details and colours than I have listened to before. A silky-type of reproduction, but on the live recordings that are recorded natural (very few) it does not lack any bite at all. Then you have all the punch you need - take care of listening levels, as you tend to turn up to natural listening levels.

My best amp ever, and allthough I have changed a lot, I definately think this is a keeper.

Strengths:
Bass reproduction, power and head-room. Full-bodies reproduction. A bit warm reproduction, which I like, but with a lot of details.

Weaknesses:
Harsh sound from bad recordings and harsh signal sources and speakers will not be hided!
Gets a bit watm on surface, but not over 50 dg. Celcious.
The remote is nicely builded and feels solid, but the handling of buttons are a bit non-ergomic, as it does not remember that last settings after turn-off. So you have to press and run through menues with 2-3 settings before listening can start.

If you want to use RIAA-phono you have to buy seperate plug-in. That's a weekness if you want to use vinul, as it is quite expensive, but then on the opposite a strength if you do not use vinyl. Mine is included RIAA-board.

Summary:
This Gryhon Callisto 2200 amp surprises often when listening: seems to be able to deliver any power required, no matter how loud you are palying, and no matter how complex the music is. Detailed, spacial, homogene sound, with nothing that sounds unnatural or even en little bit stange. The amp just amplifi your signal source, and control your speaker. Clean, clean and clean. The bass end is extremely tight, and for the first time I can hear what the bas player is doing - the whole time! Overall dynamic is astunning. The best amp I have had amoung the about 15 I have had, most of them so called high-end amps.

Strengths:
Control, colourless and dynamic. Bass-control fantastic. Very clean and detailed in mid and high also. Top-end with lot more colour-full reproduction than what I have heard before. With that I mean, that if the signal is sweet and detailed, it sounds so. There ara a lot of differencies between recordings to be heard here. No symbals sounds the same in different recordings. Jim Keltner in combination with a good producer and engineer will show you!

The amp is so easy to listening to, and that is not because it is soft without detailes. Very musical, even though that term is difficult to specifi.

Weaknesses:
The settings of volume and source is returning to standard when turning of the amp, so you have to operate more knobs than with fully mechanical operated amps. It gest wuite warm, allthough not critical. I would guess a little lower than 50 dg. celcious inside. A small low-noise low speed fan would be good. A little hum is notible at high volume on RIAA MC input, but it is lower that vinyl noise.
One more thing: wonder how the newer brother Diablo sounds, because the sound of the Callisto is so good, that if one could have even more, then ...... But the prices are very high.

Summary:
Stunning! Truly high-end audio. It has a lot of headroom, so you feel it just continues to let every loud passages go through it, playing level of no importance! Very neutral and highly resoluted sounding, and the bass is so firm and controlled it succeds any other amp I have tried and have had. The sound is to the warmer side, and resolution is impressively high. Even very small details in the high end comes through. Its a type of amp you save up to buy (it is expensive) but I think you after purchase forget the thing, and just use it for years and years, being happy for its ability to just do the amplification you want from your amp. I do not think it has any drawbacks, and the smooth sound pleases every type of music.

Strengths:
Neutrality, warm sounding amp, with nothing sticking out! Spacial and with are good. Extremely good bass reproduction. Looks like a big jevel.

Weaknesses:
Operating controls are a bit unhandy. After turning the amp on, you have to start all over, as it does not remember your last settings. It gest warm, about 45 degree Celcius, which does not harm components, but it's not an advantage either.
