Review 1 of 11
Price Paid:
$3800.00
from second hand Summary: I have been auditioned more than 30 int. amps this is the best so far. Simply, it's different world & class with all others like Mark Levinson, Krell, Mac, etc... Also it's totally different with 306,307.. (not talking about power rating...) the smoothness of 406 is like a heaven. And N804 was never ever so good until chaging to 406. Now I am getting off from the Merry-Go-Round. Never look back... Happy listening! Strengths: Everything including the finish(so Luxury...) & the feel of unit. Weaknesses: Probably, price? (But, once you get this, you will forget the $... it's that good) Similar Products Used: Levinson, Krell, Mac, classe, conrad, bryston, marantz, accuphase 307, etc...

Review 3 of 11 Summary: I've compared the 406 with a 16 years old Accuphase E-205.The latter is a mosfet design and maybe that's the reason it sounded a little warmer than the 406.In a blindtest 4 out of 4 listeners prefered the 205.The differences were small but clear. So if you're looking for a secondhand Accuphase save yourself some money and try the 205. Strengths: impressive looks, very stabel Weaknesses: price perhaps Similar Products Used: accuphase E-205

Review 4 of 11
Price Paid:
$4000.00
from Hong Kong Summary: Accuphase was the first manufacturer to build high end int. amp since perhaps E-405, a trend that is now followed by most high end manufacturers including Mark Levinson, Gryphon, Krell, McInstosh....etc.
This big machine delivers enormous power that is sufficient for all kind of extreme music reproduction and matching speakers will no longer an issue. It match perfectly with my speaker with ceramic driving units and produces a clean, fast, airy, bright and warm sound. Control on high and low are excellent at peak volume and musical stage is firmly kept no matter how loud I turned it up. It uniquely gives a good sense of live musical presence thus enhance enjoyment on all music reproduction. The degree of sweetening is just adequate. Due to its extreme power of analytical ability, changing any components in my system can be easily recognised and it just faithfully reproduce the sonic difference. Its high note reproduction is very dedicated and comparable (even better!) than many tube amp. It blends force and elegance beautifully together and outperform a lot of pre+power amp at this price level.
Definitely a super value product from Accuphase! Strengths: Very powerful and extra-ordinary airy. Highly analytical at the high. Excellently classy look. Weaknesses: none Similar Products Used: Accuphase E-206

from Taiwan Taichung ºÐ¤ý Summary: This is the best integrated amp. Ithink it is better than Mark Levinson No.383.Even than their new model E-407 . Sound more sweet than E-407.But E-407 is powerful.Because E-406V looks much beautiful than E-407. So I choose E-406V. Although it is the old model. Speaker :Dynaudio Acoustics BM-6 . CD Player:Marantz CD-19a . AMP:Accuphase E-406V Speaker Cable:Power Source XP MKII PLUS Interconnect Cable:MIT MI-330-HE Power Cable:Power Source BASS POWER , Power Source SE
