Review 1 of 3

Price Paid:  $2200.00 from 2nd hand

Summary:
I had a Cayin A-88T, a Vecteur I6.2, Vecteur I4.2, compared it to a Krell KAV-400xi... and I found it so "musical" with my Cayin CDT-17A by XLR on "my" Ellis 1801b that I purchased it nearly at once, in despite of some weakness: short bass especially and the sound staying into the speakers, any way like most of all the ampli I have tried...But emotion was there...
I found it transparent also and a lot of potentiel...So I lent it to my friend "the magicien from Belgium" alias André Devillers. He told me that cables in the ampli were less goods than in the previous version, the E-210. He changed a lot of crossover parts -nearly fifty-, changed a little bit the scheme to improve the XLR-Symetric entries which were very bad indeed. Yes, actually the E-212 is not a true XLR-symetric integreted ampli, but André did it very well: no difference actually between XLR and RCA entries except balance input level of course... And now, I have an astonished ampli, the best one I have ever heard and André was surprised himself, as usually when he tweaks some hifi items. He tweaked also my Cayin CDT-17A, revised the scheme as well to give his best, changed some AOP, changed the capacitors -Mundorf- as well: the CDP so optimized has nothing to do with the original one...
And he want to optimized my Ellis 1801b as well. I am not afraid about it but Dave Ellis and Denis Murphy did it so well...Perhaps soon...

Strengths:
detailed is perfect but not my matter: I would say "musical", that's enough...But Optimized by André Devillers -OAD-, this ampli is marvellous indeed, it breathes...You just listen to the music and the singers without worring nor thinking about what you have about technical items in your room...

Weaknesses:
none since optimized by André...
otherwise, short bass...

Review 2 of 3

Price Paid:  $2950.00 from J.audio

Summary:
I change the E-212 amplifier for the E-407,but.... I think the E-407 have more power and better dinamics but the E-212 is absolutely clear, very detailed and very transparent. The E-407 is a little more musical but only a little. The E-407 is much better than the E-212 but this last (E-212) is a fantastic product. I remenber it.

Strengths:
Very detailed.Incredibly clear and transparent.

Weaknesses:
This amplifier is fantastic but needs (compared with his big brothers) a little more musicality and sweetness.

Review 3 of 3

Price Paid:  $3000.00 from The Audio Works, Che

Summary:
I enjoy listening to complex classical music but have found it hard to listen to - particularly Debussy, due to the complicated rhythmic patterns. When I had the opportunity to upgrade my amplifier, the ability to unravel complex musical structures was very high on my list. The Accuphase was a revelation - unlike every other amplifier at its price bracket I tested, it transmitted sound with clarity that literally allowed me to hear every individual note in Mitsuko Uchida's legendary recording of Debussy's Preludes. Needless to say, such abilities work across the musical spectrum from rock and pop to orchestral. The Accuphase provides an immensely satisfying musical experience that truly justifies it being the most expensive component in my hi-fi system, rewriting the traditional rules. My dealer says that people have traded in £8000 worth of Naim to buy an Accuphase; I went in the other direction, which is less financially harmful!

Strengths:
Immmensely clear sound. Great bass response. Beautiful styling: classical, symmetrical. Fantastic build quality - looks set to last 25 years!

Weaknesses:
"unnecessary" (and unused) tone controls (although bypassable). Poor range of remote control.
