Bottom Line:
This Amp has excellent bass unlike any tube amp I've listened to so far. This amp is high performance and definately twice as good (at twice the price) as the similar products I listed above. The difference in bass, power, clarity and speed are imediately apparent ie: the amp kicks a$$ like solid state but also has great tube qualities.
The only drawback to this amp is the large amount of heat generated and the retubing cost.
It looks good with a high quality industrial appearance.

According to the the rating system, 5 stars is for giant killer so I will go with 4 stars for 'great deal' for value and 'very good product' over all. You get what you pay for here.

I bought these 2 girls new back in 1978 while stationed in Korea and had been using them for all these years on up to just 2 years ago without any repairs. Since I am now retired and have moved to the Philippines, I gave both of these Pioneer amps away to a friend of mine back in the US. I gu ... Read More »

1.6QR/ Power/Cable/Setup Question....

I;m not really sure where to post this but here goes.. I’m running my 1.6QR with a BAT Vk-3i and PS Audio HCA-2 with a pair of DH Labs Bl-1 XLR. I wanted to ask Magnepan owners about power requirement. Now, I believe 1.6QR sounds nice and detailed at low listening volume, but they do ... Read More »

5.1 with lots of power that support newer sound formats?

First of all I want to thank everyone for their input regarding several of my posts. For the most part I have found them to be extremely beneficial. I have norrowed my field down to a 5.1 (I am not an audiophile so this will be plenty for me). My living room is fairly large (15' by 27') so I need so ... Read More »
