$2400.00 Summary: Not to be confused with the Krell KSA-200s, the KSA-200 is a 200w/ch power amp rated in class "A" operation. You say, "200 watts of class A power? yea right!". No really! This tank weights in at about 120 lbs, draws 20 amps of power at idle, requires a dedicated 25 amp connection, and will provide heating for your room in the winter. It has both front mounted as well as rear mounted handles for lifting and moving about. Strengths: Power!!!! Its rating of 200watts per channel is misleading in regards to what kind of punch this baby has, for it is rated at 400w/ch into 4 ohms, 800w/ch in 2 ohms, and 1600w/ch in 1 ohm. This amp will drive ANY speaker!
Sound staging is also excellent. Very wide and deep. Weaknesses: Compared to the KSA 150/250, one would have to call the sound a bit gritty. I certainly dont mean dirty, but it didnt have the silky smooth character of its later incarnations.
It also seemed sensitive about its grounding for it had a tendency to hum if you didnt accommodate it properly.
Electric bill. Drawing 2400 watts at idle will make your wallet suffer a bit every month.
Its tonal character is a bit on the cool side. If your looking for a warm sounding amp, I wouldnt choose the KSA 200. I offsetted this tendency by using a CAL Aria cd player which offered tube outputs.
