Review 3 of 4

Price Paid:  $10000.00 from private seller

Summary:
I am already searching for a long time to the best power amps. I like the way Mark Levinson presents the music with a lot of emotion. I previously owned a ML333 but then I got a Krell KSA200S. The 200S had a much cleaner sound and the bass control was much better. But unfortunately the mids were not the strongest points of the 200S so I sold it again. Later I bought a 300S. Now the mids were much better and the bass even improved more. I sold the ML333 and played with the 300S for about 2 years. Although the ML333 was slightly more musical I preferred the sound of the 300S. Recently I upgraded to the 600C from Krell. This amplifier has the clean detailed sound of all the other Krell amplifiers and is also more musical than the 300S. The mids are much stronger than from the 300S. The bass goes very deep and there is more information in the bass than with the 300S. For example the contabass shows all the vibrations now. The 600C also sounds brighter, so you must be careful not to use bright sounding silver interconnects with this amp. In a direct comparison the 600C sounds more clean. However in bass slam it loses from the 300S. You can hear this quite obvious when you hear the lower tones of piano. The 300S beats the 600C in this point. For older speaker systems I therefore recommend using the 300S above the 600C. At a price of $ 20.000 in europe the 600C is extremely expensive. Count the second hand price of a 300S (around $ 4000) and it is hard to justify the extra money for the 600C. But I bought my 600C second hand from somebody who sold his complete $ 75000 stereo because he had no time to listen. Then the price comes more to reason. If you want the maximum of your speaker go ahead and buy the 600C. At this moment there are no better stereo amps in the world. If you still want better you have to buy the Krell FPB650. Some people prefer the ML33H but I prefer the 600C to the ML monoblocks. The lowe FPB series like 200 and 300 are no match to the 600. I rether have a 300S than a FPB300. But of course this is a personal preference.

Strengths:
Very musical, deep controlled bass, fast and clean sound.

Weaknesses:
Bass slam not as much as old series amplifies (300S beats 600C in bass slam).

Review 4 of 4

Price Paid:  $70000.00 from audio mart

Summary:
This amp is very powerfull.
600 watts rms is not a joke , so it get heated but that doesnt affect the quality of the sound.
The bass is terrific and the mids and hi freq are execellent.
If the price is low it would have been much better.
But for the quality these giants gives u , the price is not a factor.

Strengths:
crystal clear, bass and hi frequency

Weaknesses:
price , heavy

Similar Products Used:
macintosh , my old Bose solid state amp/
