Review 1 of 9

Price Paid:  $5760.00

Summary:
These products are being used with a Goldmund SRP2 pre, please check the equivalent review but for the time being one must be thankfull that little products like these do exist among us. The previous SRMs had a reputation build around them but these will become legends ! Many consider those better than the Mimesis28M butI would not go that far although I must admit that the differences need accute hearing and a fine system. In broad terms they use the same layout and componentry bar the values of the components themselves. Where they differ significantly is their build which the latter use the famous " thermal & mechanical grounding" by Goldmund. Relevant to this review are the extended yet smooth response, the timing and colour of music and the lack of artificiality in the sound. They remain calm and controlled even under great pressure and rely on the fact of reproducing recorded music taking themselves as entities out of the system. One should be wise to use them with ancileries and paraphernalia of extreme quality and never switch them off! They are monoblock amplifiers and they remain so without any side effects to the musical signal. The cost is that some people, not being able to identify character, miss their greatness and further, an oportunity to end their never ending quest towards musical fidelity nirvana. Good luck!

Strengths:
Transparent, fast, characterless.

Weaknesses:
The existance of more expensive Goldmund equipment which justify the price differance nevertheless.

Similar Products Used:
YBA, ATC, EAR, KRELL, PASSLABS, SHINDO.

Review 2 of 9

Price Paid:  $5000.00 from On loan

Summary:
This amp is so amazing. I pride myself in making a judicious selection of components after playing around with stero systems for 20 odd years.

I can tell you that Chord make fine amps, my decision to
try out the 1200E was dictated by having owned the 600 power and CPA 2200 pre.

While demoing the bigger Chords , theses Goldmund monobloks was dropped in by Lars
, one of my business contacts with a wry smile.
His words were "just listen, Ill collect them back in a week "

Same advice to everyone"just listen" :)

Strengths:
powerful yet subtle in nuances.
Information retrieval is first rate
and absolutely no solid state glare.

Weaknesses:
Nobody believes uts a powerhouse

Similar Products Used:
CHORD CPA 2200 pre amp and Chord SPM 1200E, SPM 600.

Review 3 of 9

Price Paid:  $4600.00

Summary:
Bought these to replace my 332.
Id already was impressed with the original srm's in 99/2000 but had just bought the 332.
First thing I noticed was the finesse in the top end , lack of SS glare and grain and the speed and transient attack. My shoon mook bella voce was already on the warmish side but lacked attack. The srm2 's brought out the timbral accuracy superior imaging that the 332 and BAT amps couldnt.
The Similar goldmund 28 plus had a more fleshed out lower bass line but overall, the srm2's were still a little tighter sounding which suited the bellas well.

This is one of the best SS amps Ive ever heard. A
real giant killer.

Strengths:
tonally coherent without any solid state glare,
exceptional at portraying texture. FAST

Weaknesses:
size?

Similar Products Used:
ML 332, Bat vk 200, Goldmund 28 plus

Review 5 of 9

Summary:
A very natural sounding amp with excellent pace and attack.
Open sounding at frquency extremes, the srm2's presentation of detail is neither etched or veiled.
They drive difficult loads with ease. Cable choices are very important as they are so transparent.Goldmund doesnt recommend the use of any network cables because of the high bandwith design. We have used ultra high bandwith Highwire cables as well as Goldmund owns lineal cables with very good results.

The unit arrived from China well packed and everything seem to be in place. No external abuse by the carriers. The only problem was the power supply it came with. The box came with a cheap step-down converter.
