Review NaN of , from United Kindom

Price Paid:  $1500.00 from Audio excellence/Seven Oaks

Summary:
I have two Powers in a bi-amp configuration using a 3i as the pre-amp. The system is superb with classical music (particularly chamber music played on traditional instruments) incredible detail (you can even hear the first violin player fart!!! and his/her bow squeek) Bass detail is tremendous particularly on Jazz / blues when double bass is used. Well produced rock is exciting and involving as is dance. Indie and less well prduced seventies rock can be uninvoving however turn up the vol. and its there. A very real sound, that can compete with the big boys and girls

Strengths:
Simple to use and set up, sound is detailed, good soundstaging, definition at all frquency levels - smooth

Weaknesses:
Can be uninvolving with less well produced rock/indie

Review NaN of

Summary:
These are good amps at their individual price level, but cannot compete in mono-block mode. As mono-blocks they lack bass slam, imagery and depth. I'm currently upgrading and am amazed at the improvement going to Pass 3 or 4, BAT VK60 or the Krell KAV 250. Any of these make the Cyrus's sound poor, though the Krell is dissapointing, being rather harsh. The BAT or Pass4 will be my choice.

Summary:
I've had a Cyrus Pre/ Power combination for about six months now. The sound is superb - very clear and dynamic. The nice thing about it is that you can gradually upgrade. One Power (500gbp) then two for biamping. Then add PSX power supplies, then switch to monoblocks, then add two more powers with PSX. Then you've got a great amp (110 WPC) which has cost 3200gbp, paid for gradually without a single trade in loss and no interest payments.
I recently heard it (2 powers +psx) biamping Martin Logan Aerius and the sound was sublime. Close your eyes and it was dificult to beleive there weren't musicians in the room. Out of curiosity I compared it with a Krell 300i which costs a few hundred pounds more and the Krell was distinctly inferior. I dont know if more expensive Krells would be better, I guess they might but at double the cost or more I doubt the diference would be worth it.
