Review 1 of 2

Price Paid:  $4195.00 from Audio Broker, Apex,

Summary:
I upgraded from a Yamaha reciever to seperates situation, combining a Krell HTS 7.1 pre-pro with the Bel Canto evo6. Thaes are played through B & W speakers all around (Nautilus 805s, inwalls and center channel). The mating of the revealing Krell with the warmer Bel Canto is a great one. Tremendous liquid midrange, and upper bass. I use a Martin Logan depth subwoofer, so the deep bass is handled elsewhere. All I can say is that the unit has more than enough [power for transients, no grain and it even keeps its cool. You can touch it anytime, its only 10-15 warmer than room temperature. This is because of the switching amp . It is over 90% efficient, compared to classic push pull Class A design, which is 30 % efficient. You can bridge channels with a push of a button and a slight rearrangement of the speaker wires on the posts. If I ever get big power hungry floorstanders that need more power than the 120W (8 ohm), I will buy another evo and bridge the channels.

Strengths:
Effortless, musical, lack of grain, musical, innovative technology

Weaknesses:
none I can detect

Similar Products Used:
Yamaha reciever, older Yamaha 2 channel amp.

Review 2 of 2

Price Paid:  $4900.00 from tour de force

Summary:
The product year is actually 2002. I will keep it short because there are plenty of reviews and awards posted on the net for review. I will say that i am amazed and completely happy with the EVO6. It is an amazing amp.. I highly recommend it. wouldent dream of swapping for anything else. Oh and i think the previous reviewer had mistaken the EVO6 for the Paramid super crapblaster 2000 amp/battery charger he bought at the flea market for 6 bucks. Better luck next time guy.. the EVO6 is a world class amp. If your really lucky you can hear one someday. Oh yeah and those arent speaker wires they are jumper cables.

Strengths:
MIDBASS... SO MUCH DETAIL... HELL EVERYTHING IS JUST RIGHT.

Weaknesses:
Havent got second one yet. I plan to get another and have 6 channels in bridge mode.

Similar Products Used:
krell, rotel, proceed, denon, parasound

In my judgment the advantage of the MG 1.6 (and other Magneplars), stems from the following: = It is a full-range dipole, and = It has uses low-mass, planar drivers for the whole audio spectrum. These attributes account for its extraordinary clarity, coherence, “air”...
