Summary:
Before buying this amp I had a Nad 3020, and there is a LOT
of difference between them, and the Nad is a good amp.
The Audio Pro has MUCH more detail on every kind of music,
from the drums, to the human voice.
It was a good buy for me at around $175 USD on a discount sale.
At the normal sale price of around $350 they are also
a very good buy.

I am re-listening to my CD collection and discovering new
sounds.

I use the amp with a Audio Pro CD.2 and a couple of
Wharfedale Diamond III speakers.

Strengths:
Very detailed and perfect sound. At a cheap price.

Weaknesses:
Weird remote control

Review 2 of 3

Summary:
I've just bought the A.2 and CD.2 combination from Audio Pro and I have to express how impressed I am with the units. I bought the A.2 after having read the rave reviews in the Swedish magazine HiFi&Musik where it was chosen together with the CD.2 as the best music system under $600 (5000 SKr). I use the amplifier with my handbuilt Morel speakers (floorstander with 6.5" & 28 mm soft dome tweeter). I know that these speakers probably warrant a much more expensive/exclusive amplifier than the A.2 but I was under some financial restrictions, after all, to me there are other things in life apart from HiFi equipment. However, this little amp is a very serious piece of equipment indeed with a dynamic capability and detailing that rivals units costing two or even three times as much. The amp has plenty of power even for my rather insensitive speakers (86 dB/w/m). Furthermore, this amplifier creates a very transparent and "airy" sound reproduction with my speakers. In addition, the amp's facilities are excellent: pre out, remote control, phono stage with both MC & MM input, etc. In conclusion I have to say that this amplifier is a an almost incredible value for money and for the money it has to get a full 5 out of 5 star rating.

Summary:
Bought this Swedish amplifier together with their cd-player, the cd.2. Both units cost about $200 each. I was primarily looking for some budget equipment for my bedroom in the belief that if I just lowered my expectations I would be satisfied with the sound. This amp delivers a very quick punch with lots of details but is uncapable of putting everything together. A case of where the sum of the parts is less than the parts. At times the sound also is a bit harsh in the higher frequencies which in turn makes me lower the volume after a while when my ears get tired. Same cd-player with a different amp (NAD 1300, 2200) makes much more musical sense so it´s not to blame. It´s hard to make a judgement on the value of a product like this but I feel I rather be without this amp than have it no matter how cheap it is. The amp is told to be designed by the same guy who designed the original NAD 3020. Hard to believe though, this amp has very little in common soundwise with the much more musical NAD 3020.

Marantz MA-9S2 Power AmplifierThe list above has one tenet that I continue to hold true: high powered amplifiers are necessary to reproduce the full dynamic range of music with most speakers. This became apparent when I changed from the 100 Watt per channel Bella Extreme 100 to the 250 Watt.....
