Summary:
The SE1 Signature offered by Audio Electronics has the separate power supply update which is highly recommended. It uses the power transformer from the SE1 and uses two additional filament transformers, 6volt regulated filament supply, additional B+ capacitance 1200ufd per channel and of course matching chassis. The supply has the choice of solid state or tube rectifiers offered by Audio Electronics in kit or factory assembled. The amplifer is the most revealing ever with the 300B tubes or your choice of the 2A3 tubes and get this the addition of a headphone jack listening directly to the 300B's!!! My opinion is This is a keeper, No Noise and very musical with all the midrange bloom and detail, nice top no sizzle and deep extended bass. Built to last for a lifetime, contact CaryAudio.com and get yours today.

Strengths:
Open and Airy Midrange with plenty of detail and Bloom, Bass punch and tauntness of solid state designs.

Weaknesses:
None

Similar Products Used:
SE811 monoblock amplifiers, though the SE1 Signature with power supply update is a stereo amplifier

Summary:
Ive owned the Audio Electronics SE1 Signature for about 4 months. Give it a good break in, at first highs seem very compressed and soundstage has little bloom. The amp lacks authority but its only five watts, but this five watts would supprise just about everyone. The realism (liquidness) smoothness of this amp is unsurpassed (except for maybe Carys top of the line stuff, not heard). With most amps you cant figure out what instrument is playing, with this amp you can figure it out. Its a different type of sound that Im used to. I use my B60 as a preamp, its very good in this respect. Violins, vocals, guitars, piano, you name it, they all sound real. It just lacks the snare slam, overall slam, big soundstage of other mammoth amps that make you feel there in concert. In its own category it deserves a 5 for sound and value. But for what it lacks in the real world Ill give it a four. Very fun to own and look at, amaze friends with 5 watts.

Strengths:
Harmonic presentation, realism, vocals, smooth, musicality

Weaknesses:
Slam, authority, soundstage size/bloom (hell its a five watt tube amp)

Bryston B60, Arcam Alpha 9, Soliloquy 5.3

Marantz MA-9S2 Power AmplifierThe list above has one tenet that I continue to hold true: high powered amplifiers are necessary to reproduce the full dynamic range of music with most speakers. This became apparent when I changed from the 100 Watt per channel Bella Extreme 100 to the 250 Watt.....

The unit arrived from China well packed and everything seem to be in place. No external abuse by the carriers. The only problem was the power supply it came with. The box came with a cheap step-down converter.
