    Bottom Line:
I figured that if Klipsch bought the name, there must be a good reason. I was not wrong. With a good movie, the Aragon performs like a champ. The 2007 is played utilizing an Aragon Stage One of the same vintage. I didn't think anything could beat the sound of a movie with this system, that is until I hooked up an MMF-7 turntable with a Goldring Eroica cartridge. Allison Krauss and the entire Union Station then entered my man room and performed personally for me. I followed with some of my older vinyl, and this system will either show off the recording or bring to the very front any shortcomings in the production of the album. The sound is remarkably live as played in 5 channel stereo through 4 Klipsch LaScalas and an RC-7 center. The bottom works wiell with a Paradigm SP12.

Terence has a very nice sound on trumpet and seems to be doing well in the composition depar ... Read More »

The latest Year End Comp on Record? 2007

All of this talk about members from so many years ago and all of the recent comp talk got me thinking. 2007 is the first year I didn't make a YEC. I can't have a hole in the binder so I made a quick comp of some of my favorite songs from 2007. Better late than never. Starting off with a "Hit" at ... Read More »

2007 recording quality inferior to that of 1956??

So i'm listening to one of my fave Jazz albums, Chet Baker quartet plays standards. Recorded in mono in 1955 and now on a Gitanes Jazz 2001 CD. Even though the recording is old and mono, I can't help but notice how much more natural and dynamic it sounds compared to the albums recorded and mastered ... Read More »
