Price Paid:  $0.00 from Audiogon

Summary:
I figured that if Klipsch bought the name, there must be a good reason. I was not wrong. With a good movie, the Aragon performs like a champ. The 2007 is played utilizing an Aragon Stage One of the same vintage. I didn't think anything could beat the sound of a movie with this system, that is until I hooked up an MMF-7 turntable with a Goldring Eroica cartridge. Allison Krauss and the entire Union Station then entered my man room and performed personally for me. I followed with some of my older vinyl, and this system will either show off the recording or bring to the very front any shortcomings in the production of the album. The sound is remarkably live as played in 5 channel stereo through 4 Klipsch LaScalas and an RC-7 center. The bottom works wiell with a Paradigm SP12.

Strengths:
The strength of this amp is that it does not color any of the sources. What goes in, comes out. What is good stays good, and what is bad stays bad. If you want to have a system that delivers well at any volume exactly the quality that has gone into the amp, this would be for you. I switched back and forth with the same materials from the 2007 to a Jolida 801A tube amp, and I thought the tube amp would blow the doors off the 2007. Not so. The sound from the 2007 was actually better much to my surprise.

Weaknesses:
Although colorless, the amp lacks some of the punch that I previously experienced with my Harmon Kardon equipment, and it certainly does not come up to Krell standards. That being said, it doesn't cost like a Krell either.

Similar Products Used:
Harmon Kardon, Jolida, Dynaco, SAE, Altec-Lansing.

Magnepan Magneplanar MG 1.6 User Review

In my judgment the advantage of the MG 1.6 (and other Magneplars), stems from the following: = It is a full-range dipole, and = It has uses low-mass, planar drivers for the whole audio spectrum. These attributes account for its extraordinary clarity, coherence, “air”...
