We added this amp for a home theater, computer, and game system . We watch alot of movies, play games on both PS-3 games and PC -OC Opteron 170, 2Gigs, EVGA 8800GTX displayed thru a Sony 60' 1080p Micro Display.

Even a better value for under $700.00 used compared to MRSP $1,500.00 when it first came out four years ago.

Treble grain, 'harshness', inconsistent soundstaging, very 'forward' sounding

This is the weak link in my system, no doubt. My system consists of Classe SSP30 pre-amp, B@W 9NT's, Rega Planet 2000 cd, and Nordost SPM cables. The Adcom, while being a great home theatre amp, is simply not musical. It is a heavy beast, at almost 70lbs, unwieldy, and tends to etch out all treble to a fatiguing degree. I am not very pleased with it, and will be getting rid of it soon.

Now, if you are interested primarily in home theater, this could be the amp for you. Additionally, if your speakers/room are 'dead' sounding, or too laid back, then this amp could also be a good match. But, in most situations, there are better sounding amps for $1500 out there. The Rotel 1095 was much smoother, and the Bryston and Classe Cav75 had a far deeper soundstage. Even the much maligned Sunfire sounds better than this, though of course at $3500 it should.

Overall, this amp is too much akin to the Adcoms of old. I think that by going for the 'thx' rating, they were really trying to get a piece of the lucrative home theater market, and thus made sacrifices with musicality for slam and impact, which this amp has in spades. Bass control was awesome, almost as good as some amps costing $5000.

This amp and the ACURUS 200X5 are the best I've heard(in the under $2,000 price range). I think that the ADCOM is more critical of what you put with it(than the ACURUS), you don't want to match it with bright sounding equiptment. I like the ADCOM better than Rotel and would recommend giving it an audition. This amp has got some serious power and the detail is amazing. A great amp for both music and movies.

Preamp inputs on this amp were not mounted flush to the back of the amp casing. Possible quality control issue here.

An absolutely commendable home theater performer. Strong punch with huge dynamic sound. Unit is built well except for the rear inputs on the amp. I burned this unit in for a good 4 months before posting this review and I am pleased with its performance. I have had no problems at all with the 7500. 2 channel reproduction is one of this amp's strong points, it is not just a home theater amp. With the right components you will be able to enjoy this amp to its fullest.

I use this unit with a Adcom GTP-830.. Also a great performer.

I have had no thermal issues this unit as of yet, for my New Years party I really cranked on this amp for several hours non stop. I mean the type of party that would normally have the police department banging on your door to keep the noise down.

This amp just took it in stride and was asking for more...

I've had this amp since August of last year and I'm in love with it. I use it to power my home theater system. Which is comprised of a matched set of Eosones and a Lexicon DC-1. This amp is the perfect addition to any home theater system, the only problem I have is listening to music in 2-channel mode on the Lexicon. While sound quality for movies is excellent, the Lexicon seems to fall short of a dedicated two channel pre-amp. That's not saying much for the Adcom, I know, but I can't say a bad thing about it. I'd definitely purchase it again, now if only I had bought those Arial instead of the Eosones... Oh well a man's still got to eat!
