Bottom Line: I picked up this vintage (1976) pair of Accuphase M-60's for about $1200 USD. What a discovery. I've heard a few big boy amps over time and this pair stands out for me for the amazing honesty to the signal being fed in. In my system they drive a pair of Apogee Slant 6's. The treble has a purity and honesty about it that is quite unexpected for big SS amps. My speakers are never going to tax these big slabs of Japanese iron. The large resistor based attentuator makes it possible to run a CD player straight into these amps giving even greater gains in clarity and soundstage. An outstanding amp in 1976 and still an outstanding amp in 2009. It makes me wonder what the hi-fi mags are pushing at us these days. Change is not neccessarily progress.
