Bottom Line:
In my search of a good chain that will make me enjoy good music, I came across this piece of amp.

Amplifier is heavy, take a lot of space and runs hot. No more Vu-meter for ou folks, so the look lacks a little bit too.

For my tests, the class A A-65 was a burden. It changed the sound and the dynamic feel of the original recording (compared to ATC SCM-50 active speaker).

It had problem for reproducing well the bass frequencies and I had really the impression he was in pain to do this. I knew that, on my records, it must be a bass frequency here and there, but all I heard was a doomy-uncontrolled thing coming out the test speakers (one of Xavian and one of B&W).

This bass problem will although come to be a problem when it comes to dynamic. Because, on good amps, the dynamic "sit down" on a fundation, that allow it to sound massive. This, exactly, is not the case here. So you have an impression of shortened dynamic.

The order in the medium was altered as well. If you know a track very good, you know where x or y thing has to stay. With the A.65, it moves things from a place to another without respecting the original layer.

But they was positive things : the overal quality is good. The fact that no Chinese workers has to spill his blood to build it is excellent too. Although, when bought used, the value is very regular, but be aware of the massive pricedrop if you are the first buyer. Although, you have a touch of light coming in the reproduction, that could really help for darker recordings of the starting of the recording era (that was probably recorded and mastered on A-class amps).

The price policy of accuphase is and the way they shut down the international market for repair pieces and service is a scam too.

Globally, I can't really recommend this gear. He's way to expensive and lacks some qualities for a good reproductions. But some will find this class A sound exactly their cup of tea.
