Price Paid:  $0.00 from Private Seller

Summary:
I have this reciever for over an year and I am really pleased with its performance. the DSP modes are just killers!!! I use this in conjunction with Pioneer PD T505 Cd player, Polk Audio/KLH as mains, Sony as rears and center. My next Reciever is surely a Yamaha

Strengths:
Whistles and Bells! Smooth Natural Sound! DSP modes. Low price. Hi performance.

Weaknesses:
No Sub, No optical.

Similar Products Used:
Kenwood. Sony.

Review 2 of 12

Price Paid:  $400.00 from audio video 2000

Summary:
rx-v490 is my second yamaha amp. and for this model i was a little bit upset, im using vcr and dvd for watching movies, and when i watch on vcr it gives a lot of power, but when i use dvd the 1/4 of the power is missing, and is not like the one i use before, for this one your satisfaction is incomplete

Weaknesses:
dvd and vcr line have different power output

Review 3 of 12

Price Paid:  $200.00 from EbAy

Summary:
I do like the sound quality the thing emits... although it can be a little fuzzy at times. The outputs are of few but I am using a pair of Bose® 201 series IVs as mains, a pair of Boston Acoustics HD-5s as rears and a Cerwin-Vega! 12" Sub. (Hooked up to the 'B' speaker output due to the lack of a Sub. output.) This receiver is great for a small room or even maybe an apartment. But I wouldnt suggest it for a larger room.

Strengths:
High end sound quality / Low end price.

Weaknesses:
Close to NO sound from rears and center... No sub. output.

Similar Products Used:
Nakamichi AV2, Harman/Kardon AVR5
