Review 1 of 20

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:
7767 This receiver is almost good for the price paid. This opinion is why the dts decoder is unavailable, that today is essential in this class of receiver. The overall performance is good , the sound is clear mainly in treble range.

Review 2 of 20 , from Birmingham, England

Price Paid:  $100.00 from http://www.hyperfi.c

Summary:
I was looking for a quality Dolby Digital reciever, with reasonable power, enuff power for a bedroom and cheap price. I couldnt find a cheaper dolby digital reciever then this, there were more expensive ones but they werent very powerful and reviews werent so good. For DVD, this is amazing for the price, top class, low noise, good channel seperation, very clear and smooth. it might not have DTS but here in the uk well over 90% of DVD's are DD. I listen more to music then watch DVD's so 2 channel performance was a concern. I have some B&W 601 for front and Yamaha SW205 for a sub and the performance is decent too quite good. well everything is crystal clear and bass and treble are just as they should be, the only thing is at loud volumes, its just way too harsh and makes you want to turn the volume down. But for the price, I dont regret buying it, I can get a cheap NAD for good 2 channel stereo. For what its suppose to do, DVD is great.

Strengths:
price, clarity, top quality for DVD DD.

Weaknesses:
no DTS, poor 2 channel sound.

Review 3 of 20 , from Leuven, Belgium

Price Paid:  $350.00

Summary:
Because music means a lot more to me, film is not the thing for me to spend a lot of money on. I looked around, and was trying to find the best receiver possible for the least money. This yamaha was the cheapest that i could find. It only has 60 w/channel but it isn''t my first yamaha so i knew that there would be plenty of power. I also thought it was no use in getting a receiver with dts because how many dvd''s are out there that are encoded with dts. Here in europe, almost none. And i don''t like all the extra cable and electronics in the amp needed to provide dts. So this was the most stripped receiver around, just dolby digital. Hooking it up was easy, it is a simple set-up but only the speakerterminals could have been better. They are clips instead of screws. Only the main speakers have real screw terminals. It weighs in at about 10 kgs, it has the exact weight of the rx 420 that follows up this receiver but still how can that be? The rx 420 is claimed to deliver 5/100 watts and has dts. I regret the fact that there are no pre-out terminals. The measily 60 watt is more than enough to ensure a breathtaking movie experience. It goes low, doesn''t clip or distort when pushed at the limit. Yamaha did a good job for just this kinda money.

Strengths:
Enough power on board, easy set-up, discrete display,

Weaknesses:
Springclips, plastic front,

Similar Products Used:
dsp e492, rx v420,

Review 4 of 20 , from Perth, WA, Australia

Price Paid:  $260.00 from Morley HiFi

Summary:
I am a 15 year old teenager and i love nice clean audio and i looked at Sony,Denon and some other brands but this one was the one that standed out cause the Sonys are too much stuff chucked in for a low price and crap sound and the Denons are to much

I have 6 speakers 4 fronts(2 floor standing and 2 normal) and 2 rears i have'nt got around to center and sub yet cause i have been busy getting a new TV and now i need to save up for a car.

This amp gives me everything i want from it and the remote is perfect and who needs a volume LED and DTS cause not all DVDs have DTS. My amp is hooked upto my computer and its gives good sound other then the crap sound card i got.

The sound quality is clear even on tuner and CDs maybe the problem other people have is not setting the right DSP setting cause i have mine on the DISCO setting and it sounds fine

I love my Amp and am not planning to change it for ages and it really annoys the neighbours

Strengths:
Many speakers, Optical Ins and good wattage

Weaknesses:
more video ins, remote control dosent operate some brands

Similar Products Used:
None only a Minisystem Akai
