Price Paid:  $350.00 from sony

Summary:
this is the best reciver i have ever owned! i love it i rocks! i am a pc tech and the egg is great i have never had a problem with the range (if you do just get a rf booster for 20.00) for anyone who cannot get bass out of this system get rid of you fu_king best buy crap and get some real speakers! i have two JBL TR225's that handle 450rms and 2200w peak and this reciver pumps the hell out of them!
as for noise i had no complaints at 106db output there was only a miner hiss that only the decerning ear would notice.
{PS adcom SUCKS! i could get more current out of a potato)

Strengths:
everything! lots of power, pure clearity rivaling the best carver amps, tons of bass, i luv vision touch!

Weaknesses:
None ... err other than being hard to find anyone that will work on it.

Similar Products Used:
carver, Onkyo, denon, bose=TRASH

Review 4 of 31

Price Paid:  $200.00 from J&R

Summary:
Great Stereo Sound with my Klipsch KG 5.2!!!!, Dolby Prologic Decoder is great but with a little hiss on rear speakers (Prologic is best used for Movies not for Music), very flat response from 10Hz to 50Khz, 160W x 2 into 8ohm and 225W x 2 into 4ohms in Stereo Mode, Deep bass if your speakers (really) down to 35Hz or lower.
The problem with the EGG is for people that don't read manuals or people that hate computers, for best results place the RC antenna in front all equipments.
Reading the manual all the configuration is easy, for music only you don't need configuration, just connect main speakers and power on, for Movies read first the manual carefully.
If you don't have time to read manuals find another receiver and a lot of more money to get less, sorry...

Strengths:
Remote (Computer Like), Power, Sound Quality in Stereo Mode and Price

Weaknesses:
No DTS, No AC3 (Dolby Digital 5.1)

Review 5 of 31

Price Paid:  $200.00

Summary:
This stereo has decent sound overall, however it will produce almost no bass at higher levels. After I saw the fix which allows you to use a regular remote with this receiver (which they originially intended to do but simply did not put in a few parts to implement this feature), I brought it out of retirement. It works like, well, a receiver now that I can control it with a normal remote and I haven't had any problems with it so far. Value rating without the IR fix is a 2, wheras with the fix at its current $200 price its a strong 5.

(just open it up and solder three little parts to the board...)

Strengths:
Looks good, 100x5, egg remote is moderately impressive for a while.

Weaknesses:
No bass, egg remote- but... I did the IR remote hack on it and now it works great with my regular sony receiver remote.
