from sunshine Summary: This receiver is increddible!! It sounds exactly how a THX select receiver should. It even sounds great with 10 year old Technics speakers. I don't use technic speakers normally, but I threw a set on to see how it would handle crappy speakers and it sounds awesome. My last receiver (an Onkyo tx-sr503) didn't even sound this good with a set of klipsch reference 35 speakers. I would highly recomend this receiver to anyone looking around the $1000 MSRP range. It has all the bells and wistles you'll need. Some of the fun things I found were: the ability to bi-amp my front speakers, it auto adjusts everything for you if you want, and it's OSD is awesome. I couldn't ask for more. The only other receiver that looked like a viable option was the Yamaha R-1500. I'm glad that I went with the pioneer thought because I think it looks cooler and has more of the sound I was looking for. It's bass is deep and rich, it's highs are light and not mutled. This receiver is nothing short of awesome. Strengths: self adjusting EQ for all channels
Biamping capable
beautiful sound reproduction of both music and movies. Weaknesses: only a 6 channel input as oposed to a 8 channel
need a detachable power cord
might be a little advanced for a begginer Similar Products Used: Onkyo 801
