Onkyo TX-SR804 A/V Receivers

Onkyo TX-SR804 A/V Receivers

DESCRIPTION

To create an A/V Home Theater Receiver of exceptional quality, the challenge lies in incorporating the delicate Processing circuits and amplifier components into the same chassis. When they both draw on the same power source, the amplifier dominates at peak moments. In a good design, it all works smoothly—as with the THX Select2 certified TX-SR804 7.1-channel A/V Surround Home-theater receiver. You have Video switching and upconversion through HDMI (version 1.1) and component video enabling an effortless, high-bandwidth transfer of video and Audio signals to the latest HDTV displays.

I am very happy with the Onkyo SR804. It powers my center channel only because I have a three channel monster cable amp powering the rears and front channels. I must say that the center channel (Boston Acoustic vr14) sounds open, neutral, powerful and effortless. For 650.00 on sale this receiver was a steal. It has enough channels and power to create a good home system. One draw back is that it only upscales to 720 not 1080. !080 signals will pass through unaffected but less signals won't be 1080. I did play some video tapes on my HD 42 panasonic and the picture looked better than on my non HD set. One drawback is that this sucker is heavy. Put it down and it won't move. This receiver has been updated to the SR-806 model. With Onkyo you can't go wrong.
