Summary:
The TX-NR3007 replaces a Yamaha RX-V2600 in our home theatre. I was already setup for a 9.x configuration so the Onkyo was just perfect with regards to channels. I was on the market for a Yamaha RX-Z11 so that I could take advantage of our 2 extra channels over our front speakers. I was very happy to see the new Onkyo arrivals. The Onkyo cost less than half the price of a "B stock" Z11 and is of comparable quality to Yamaha. Combined with our 15 inch Velodyne sub we now have the benefit of a wider spectrum of sound coming from the heights. I used the Audyssey MultEQ room correction feature. It found all my speakers, was very accurate on speaker distance. The speaker EQ settings needed to be changed to THX standards. I was somewhat puzzled that it reduced my speaker volume to very low levels. The sub was at -16db and the center was set at -9db as an example. I manually set the speaker volumes to 0db except for the heights, surround and back-surrounds that I slightly increased at +1 to +2db. Once treble was slightly increased on the front channels the sound was just perfect. The height channels really do make a world of difference watching sports and movies. Setting up the remote was much easier than I expected. It recognized my DVD player, cable box and TV without any problems and did this in no time at all. Contrary to many Onkyo owners are saying about them getting hot, this model does not run unusually hot. Network settings were easy to set-up. Internet radio is a nice feature for those who would find this useful.
If you are looking to upgrade or add speakers to your HT these new Onkyo models are truly an excellent choice at a reasonable cost.

Sanders Sound 10b Speaker Review

No, you can’t always get what you want. The number of loudspeakers surpassing the cost of a decent family sedan is staggering. Then there are speakers that cost as much as a house.
