The TX-DS595 gives you Onkyo’s traditional strengths—sonic excellence, build quality and unparalleled
The TX-DS595 gives you Onkyo’s traditional strengths—sonic excellence, build quality and unparalleled ease of use—plus the latest technological advances and user-interface refinements previously reserved only for our most expensive receivers.
Take the Optimum Gain Volume circuit, for example. Its cutting-edge design puts an end to the noise contamination that often plagues conventional volume controls — so your movies and music sound their best at any output level.
Another Onkyo high-end refinement, a Non-Scaling Configuration, gives you better bass management while providing DSP with improved clarity, transparency, dynamics, depth and imaging. And critically acclaimed Wide Range Amplifier Technology (WRAT) eliminates the adverse effects of counter-electromotive force by applying the optimum minimal amount of NFB (negative feedback). For operation ease, you get Onkyo’s exclusive A-Form (Auto-Format), which not only senses the signal format — DTS, Dolby Digital, or stereo, for example — but also, unlike any other receiver, switches to the listening modes you pre-assigned for that source.
And for the technophobic, four easily assignable digital inputs, an innovative Smart Scan Navigator, and IntelliVolume make setup and daily operation so amazingly simple, even those new to home theater will enjoy running the show.

from friend Summary: SOUND SOUND SOUND isnt thats whats important when itr comes to recievers yes its nice too have a alot of connections but overall all that maters is sound and this reciever doesa that well especially at this price range. It does not matter what youre listening too the sound is wonderful shoot the only reciever ive owned that did this well was my b&k at 2800$and tis is what 25% of that. Now that im done ranting and raving down to the nitty gritty, for recievers now a days the connectivity of this piece is more than lacking although each video circuit has itrs own chip set i need more you however may not and if thats the case buy this now now now you will not be mad. This reciever may bre the only one ive tested in which i had to turn the bass down which is very nice not to mantion that the highs and mids are top in its class. If you can afford it buy it if the connectivity is not an issue whith you....and youll save alot of$$$ Strengths: sound menu looks heat sinks Weaknesses: no component imputs Similar Products Used: polk everything cept sub which isnt needed whith this reciever.

$499.00
from CAMBRIDGE SOUND WORK Summary: ONKYO MAKES SOME VERY GOOD QUALITY PRODUCTS. I BOUGHT MY FIRST RECEIVER FROM THEM OVER 14 YEARS AGO AND I AM STILL USING IT ON A DAILY BASIS. WHEN I DECIDED TO BUILD MY HOME THEATER GOING WITH ONKYO FOR 5.1 AV RECEVIER WAS A NO BRAINER. AFTER WEEKS OF READING REVIEWS AND SPEAKING WITH STORE REPS THIS WAS WITH OUT A DOUBT THE BEST VALUE. EASY TO SET UP, MACRO FUNCTIONS ARE AN AWESOME FEATURE. I WENT FROM HAVING TO JUGGEL 4 DIFFERENT REMOTES TO JUST THE 595 REMOTE.
WATCHING A DVD FOR EXAMPLE: WITH MACROS PROGRAMMED I HIT DVD AND MACRO BUITTON ON THE 595 AND THATS IT. THE 595 PROCEEDS TO TURN ON MY SONY DVD AND STARTS THE DVD, TURNS ON MY TOSHIBA HDTV AND SELECTS THE DVD INPUT, TURNS ON THE RECEIVER ITSELF AND SWITCHES TO DVD MODE, THATS CLOSE TO 11 BUTTONS I WOULD HAVE TO PUSH BETWEEN THE 3 REMOTES, MACROS BRING THAT DOWN TO TWO BUTTONS ON THE 595 REMOTE...VERY NICE SYSTEM. Strengths: BUILD QUALITY, EASE OF USE, SOUND QUALITY, OPTICAL,COMPONENT VIDEO OUTPUTS. Weaknesses: NONE YET, PERFECT FOR THOSE WHO WANT HOME THEATER EXCELLENCE AND STILL MAX OUT THERE IRA. Similar Products Used: OTHER ONKYO 2 CHANNEL, SONY, JENSEN, YAMAHA, DENON

Price Paid:
$820.00 Summary: GREAT, simply put... I've been into Onkyo since my first stereo in 1989.
The design appeals to me because it's simple, and clean.
And nice to look at. Strengths: The sound is very clear, and powerful.
Easy to set up. Weaknesses: I've had the misfortune of getting one with the faulty processor that had fallouts especially in the Pearl Harbor movie, with DD5.1 sound, but after a bit of discussion with the distributor in Europe they aggreed to change the processor without any cost to me Similar Products Used: none
