This is a great all in one receiver/home theater system. I have never bought anything but Sony, Pioneer, or JVC. This is my first Onkyo experience. The price is a little steep but if I can get the DVD player to work correctly, this is an awesome unit! Strengths:
I love all of the features that this unit has. I can finally use ONE remote with all of my devices, something that the others couldn't deliver. The sound that it produces is great! Weaknesses:
Well, the one weakness I have with it right now is that it won't play all of my DVD's. I have a small DVD collection so the first few I had, played immediately. Then, I purchased some more and when the unit tried to play them, it just sat there saying 'Reading' and then came back and told me that the disc was incompatible!! WHAT???!!! So I took the DVD out and put it in my $200 JVC DVD player and it played just fine. I ended up going back to Circuit City and they setup the another unit they had, and my DVD's played fine there. So, I am working on getting another unit to see if that solves my problem. Kind of makes me scared though that this won't happen again down the road.
