Summary:
This is my first NAD A/V receiver. After using it for both movies and music, I must admit that it is the finest sounding Receiver I have owned. My previous receivers include the Pioneer Elite vsv 59txi, Denon AVR 3805, B&K AVR 507 II, Sunfire TGII. All were great for movies, terrible for music. The NAD is in my second system that does not need HDMI connections and is used for music and video games, and occasional movies. I would say 80% of it's use is for music. I am running a pair of Vienna Acoustics Beethoven Concert Grands and they sound wonderful with this receiver. I have also had several 2 channel rigs running these speakers, the best of which was a Myryad MXI 2150 Int. Amp. However, I wanted 5.1 for the video games and thus the choice of the NAD. It is equal to the Myryad in music reproduction. I have not experienced a sigle problem with this unit. No hissing, no over heating, no shutdowns during demanding music playing. I bought this from a local dealer as new old stock for $500.00. What a deal!

Just want to assist anyone who is considering nad for the first time. i too read lots of reviews of yamaha's and denons and nad etc and was confused by the differing opinions out there and hope that this review helps rather than worsens that difficult decision as to what is best for you. i've heard nad amps through psb and kef speakers as well as my paradigms and find nad to be more neutral in sound than warm. nad's are accurate and uncoloured and the t773 is no exception. however, natural reproduction may not be what you enjoy. also, the refinement of nad the sound that gives you more detail at the top also makes more airy the bass and percussion and some may find this dissatisfying because they need a harder thicker sound for both music and movie sounds like automobile noise or explosions or gunfire. Some believe amps shouldn't have a sound and so they praise nad for it's neutrality but that's like comparing video and film stock saying 'but video is more like reality'- sure it is and who wants 'reality' rearing its ugly head in their movie? we prefer the warm look of a movie than the 6'oclock news video version of life. so many of you may not appreciate nad's neutrality. my yamaha rx v595 has a very colored sound and i like it - especially in surround.
the t773 reproduces water sounds, acoustic instruments, sword fights and gunfire quite naturally but motorcycle sounds were thin and weird sounding. i don't blame one acquaintance who characterized nad as boomy but it wasn't oppressively so.

Strengths:
airy, accurate, neutral, easy to set up and use, excellent at the top end, voices more accurate than yamaha or even denon ;remote is perfectly easy to use if a bit large.

Weaknesses:
heavy; you must use the receiver for volume control because using the cable box for volume control will create a loud hum in your speakers, bass and percussion to refined and unsweetened for me, neutral sound is not for everyone

Summary:
First of all, this receiver weighs a ton which is definately a good sign of what is inside. I have had this about a month and love it so far. Every channel has its own distinct sound and makes for a lifelike experience when watching movies. Stereo mode is great as well. The only drawback I've noticed is that the bass management. When switching from watching a DVD movie to listening to a CD or tuner, I am constantly adjusting the bass for the proper output. If someone other than myself were to try to use this it would probably be frustrating in that sense but everything else is wonderful. The on screen display is a lot more user friendly than other receivers. This is pretty much ready to go out of the box. I have a mid-sized room and did not find myself doing too much tweaking to make it sound warm and inviting. I had a Yamaha RX-V2300 and that took quite a while to figure out how to set and tweak the sound and I found the NAD to be quite simple. I like the fact that it's farily basic looking...I'm not into seeing more and more buttons that I'll never end up using. Overall, great warm and inviting sound with more "true" power than other receivers I've used.

Strengths:
Simplicity, ease of use. True, lifelike sound. Basic design (some may not like this though).

Weaknesses:
Bass management. Not a big deal.

Summary:
Hiya, First of all i have to state what kind of sound i am looking for as it changes from person to person and majority of music enthusiast who will purchase or look at a product will most likely have a preference that will be unique. I prefer my music/movie to be lacking of harshness... i would describe my music/movie tones to be natural and or warm. Now off to the review. This beast literally is truely one of the top contenders in its price range... I auditioned many products in comparison to this rotel 1067, arcam avr300, denon 3803, marantz 8500. This unit is very sturdy and weighs a LOT its about twice as heavy as your traditional equipment. Stereo Mode: The sound is excellent, the sound stage is great it puts your right infront of the stage (not on but infront of it). The stereo seperation is superb and is but not as good as the seperates from the same production year. The highs are clear and well pronounced. Its a "wee" bit harsh/bright side (comparing it to marantz, denon and roteli would call it warm), but i would not dare call it harsh or bright. I would not call the sound to be completly natural but its pretty darn close. The two beefy Torodial Power Supplys give it ample juice for it to present the tight clean bass. Comparing it to the arcam now it was not as refined as the arcam, i blame it maybe on the interference from the power supply? 5.1/DTS: The channel separation is amazing, its punchy when need be, bright when need be and warm when need be.. overall very close to being natural sounding again... but not there 100%. Overall for 2200 CDN Dollars this reciver is a sure winner amongst the sea of yamaha, sony, denon and marantz. If you are looking to upgrade your system thats a few years old want component switching and good sound this is the reciever.

- Good clean natural-esque sound. - Built quality. - Bass.

Weaknesses:
- Bass Management (No LFE signal being sent IF all speakers are set to large and watching stereo and or DD material). It only sends signal to LFE if some or all speakers set to small.
