Review 1 of 2

Price Paid:  $100.00 from ebay

Summary:
I purchased this receiver used on ebay, no prior experience with Kenwood. First impression after unpacking was good. Everything on the front panel was well layed out and not too crammed together. The back was also a simple layout and was easy to hook up. After wiring to my Yamaha NS-777 speakers I was impressed with the sound quality, not much hum from the speakers. After adding a full set of surround speakers, center, and sub I was simply amazed with the receivers performance. You really have to crank up the volume before you get some good levels though. The remote is so-so, I can't get it to do some functions. The unit heats up quickly putting out 100 watts per channel. Overall a great receiver with good power.

Strengths:
7.1 compatable, THX Select, 100 watts per channel, strong clean sound, Room B hookup, good display on the front with well layed out buttons, easy to hook up, advanced setup options available.

Weaknesses:
Unit heats up quick, remote.

Review 2 of 2

Price Paid:  $350.00 from Vanns.com

Summary:
I think this product will be useful for most Home Theaters. It is 7.1. The THX select certification says it will fill a 2000 square foot situation mine being much less. I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a AV Receiver

Strengths:
The remote can control almost all functions. It has all the 7.1 Dolby DTS Neo6 etc that I required. Also has preamp outs and all the connections I need now. It does deliver 100 watts/channel and has a nice display of all the functions. It has automatic input and settings for the output of devices such as PCM and Dolby Prologic. It has 6.1 input.

Weaknesses:
Except for the poor documentation and the unorganized remote control. This is why only 4 stars. It does not have a sleep timer as my previous AV receiver had. It does not have a front digital optical TOSlink port.
