Review NaN of

Price Paid:  $270.00 from Circuit City

Summary:
The Kenwood KR-V7080 is a good receiver. This unit is really, really out of date, but it still to this day works great for stereo sound. I don't use it every day anymore, but when I hook this thing up, it's fine. It has a Dolby Pro Logic decoder, but that is it. There is not a Dolby Digital or dts decoder in this receiver. I just used it a few weeks ago for a party at my apartment. Works perfectly.

The deal is 100 x 3 for the main and center channels, and a weak 30 x 2 for the rear channels. Hooking up an inexpensive sub using the line level input took care of the low bass problem. There are several settings that are used with music and movies, and they do enhance the sound. If you are looking for a simple stereo receiver, this is perfect if you can find one. Chances are it will be extremely cheap. The sound in two channel mode is still incredible. If you are looking for a home theater receiver, obviously there are much better choices available today.

Strengths:
Long lasting performance, two poloarized outlets, stereo sound quality, build quality and adjustable sound fields.

Weaknesses:
Moderate bass (not enough), no digital decoders and it is not 100x5 in surround mode.

Similar Products Used:
Sony, JVC.

Review NaN of , from San Antonio, Texas

Price Paid:  $125.00 from Military Postal Exchange

Summary:
Ok, I've had this Receiver for over 4 years now... bought it at the military postal exchange for 125 bucks on an open box closeout deal. I've NEVER had any problems at all. I've used Definitive Technologies Speakers with it for the past 2 years. Celcius x 2 fronts, BP2X x 2 rear, PF15 sub, P-100 center. I ditched all but the Celcius fronts and use it as a stereo receiver. Maybe its the speakers but the setup CRANKS! (and these are small bookshelf types) It has a low THD in stereo. Its not the worlds best but makes a great little back up receiver.

Strengths:
No Problems at all, Low THD, Cheap (for me)

Weaknesses:
Not Dolby Digital or DTS but hey I bought it 4 years ago.

Review NaN of , from Cedar Falls, IA

Price Paid:  $185.00 from traveling electronic's flee market

Summary:
I have had this reciever for 3 years and have not had any trouble with it. I bought it still in the "factory reconditioned" box. I use the Cerwin-vega D8 15's with this reciever and it tends to shut itself off after you push the volume over to about 70. Could use a bigger amp.
I hate the fact that the bass is such a low output. I never really get the 15's going. I did buy the 10inch KLH powered sub and that made a world of difference.
Friend just bought brand new Onkyo and hw has the same problem with the low bass. I guess if there is a jack on the back for a powered sub you better bet that the bass through the front speakers is going to be low. They build them so you have to purchase the sub.

Strengths:
Reasonably priced for what you are getting.

Weaknesses:
Upper end distortion, low bass output.
