from One Stop Summary: Got this about a year ago, after making a few mistake purchases in this price range.(Kenwood,JVC,Sony,Pioneer) I was wanting to put together a small inexpensive Theater System, my first one and wanted it to be the best possible at this price point. I already have relatively high end Stereo Equipment for music(Carver, Crown) so mainly wanted this for movies, but I just could not deal with the poor sound quality of the units I tried and didn't have a lot of faith in this one either. What a nice surprise. The sound from the AVR225 is very nice. It has detail and warmth at the same time and does not sound harsh, very natural and smooth. This unit sounds like it has more Headroom than the other units that was rated at 100 watts per channel instead of 55 watts. This unit actually sounds close to my Carver and Crown amps, just not quite as much volume. Even though this is not in the price range of true Audiophile equipment, it doesn't know it and performs like a much more expensive unit. Way to go Harman Kardon. So far it has held up well, I hope it continues. I have heard they have had some issues with reliabilty a few models back but have suppose to have fixed those issues. Strengths: Audiophile Sound at mainstream prices
