Denon AVR-3805 7.1 Channels Receiver
1 Reviews
rating  5 of 5
MSRP
Description: Denon has packed this receiver with an astonishing array of audiophile features, but they've also gone out of their way to make your home theater setup as easy as possible. The '3805's Auto Setup and Room EQ Adjust feature takes the hassle out of speaker configuration. Just plug in Denon's DMS-305 microphone (not included) and place it in your favorite listening seat. The '3805 then uses a series of test tones to balance speaker levels and fine-tune the delay and EQ settings for each speaker. The result is optimized system performance for your specific home theater room!

Summary:
this receiver offers huge improvements over the budget crowd, i upgraded from a pioneer 812 which is fine for av use but is rotten in stereo. the 3805 is excellent in stereo and sounds huge with movies. it's flexible, easy to operate and does its stuff in an entirely fuss free way, tank like build quality, all the latest decode modes add to a attractive package, room eq is the icing on the cake.

Strengths:
two channel audio is superb for av receiver, massive power, tons of decode modes, solid build .

Weaknesses:
the remote is a fancy pants el lighting model, twenty minutes after you have shown it to your unimpressed wife, you share her lack of enthusiasm for it. it is unusable in daylight and devours batteries like a 8 year old with a psp, it also doesn't control the volume of the unit properly, one quick jab at the up button and you can be destroying your hearing in no time . the model has no sleep function
