Strength:

Completely neutral with source material
Great price/value quotient
Easy to use remote

Weakness:

None for price

After owning Adcom's GFA-555 amp for nearly twenty years, and considering the fact I am still impressed with its performance and build quality, after shopping around I purchased the GTP-860 II 7.1 surround processor/preamp/tuner as the 'brains' for a surround system. Performance is flawless, and the unit it as feature rich for the price point as you are likely to find. If you are looking for a preamp to add coloration to your audio signal, this is not for you. The GTP-860 II is completely transparent with audio signal, and will reveal the weaknesses in substandard cd players. Likewise with DVD. But, if you have quality source equipment, you will be hard pressed to find a better unit, especially at the price.
