Review 1 of 41

Price Paid:  $111.00 from ebay

Summary:
Controls everything except the kitchen sink. I had 4 different remotes to run my home theater system but now with one sony 2100 it is much easier. this thing is so good i'm gonna buy another one and give it to my mom to make her home theater life easier. and you know if you get something for your mom its got to be good. if you look on ebay you can get one for around $110

Strengths:
easy to use. simple to program.

Weaknesses:
it can't control the sink.

Similar Products Used:
i have only used the remotes that came with the audio products

Price Paid:  $130.00 from Was a gift

Summary:
After years of looking for that elusive 'perfect remote' this Sony product came to me a Christmas gift. While tedious and time consuming to setup, the effort is worth it. I control a DSS system, VCR, CD player, DVD player, TV, Tape deck, surround proc, receiver and laser disk player with the remote. The lighted LCD display is perfect in the evenings. Size is on the large size, but helps as it is harder to misplace. Battery life is good. I would not hesitate to recommend this remote to anyone.

Strengths:
Controls everything with aplomb. Ease of use after setup.

Weaknesses:
Needs more macros. Size.

Similar Products Used:
Too many to remember

Price Paid:  $99.00 from ????? Can't remember.... somewhere over the internet

Summary:
I really really like this unit. Its just one nice looking remote vs 6 ugly remotes sitting on my coffee table.... It only took my about 25 min, tops. to set it up with all my components and, what it didn't know i learned in less than 3 secs!! once its done you never have to relearn.

Strengths:
I love the Macro Buttons.... one Command tells everything what to do???

Weaknesses:
There are only Three Macro buttons.... I would like more

Similar Products Used:
none

Review 5 of 41

Price Paid:  $35.00 from Ebay

Summary:
I found this used remote for $35 on Ebay. It's GREAT!
Love the blue display. (Being used, some of the display is fading. We'll see how customer service is.)
I had to delete the old info from the previous users setup and it was a pain. I was ready to call it quits. I reread the manual (again and again) and finally the remote did it.
It was a cinch to have the remote learn an older model tv. I've never set up a remote that easy before.
The battery usage remains to be seen, but I don't think I'll have a problem even though I have the backlight set to about 30 seconds.
YOU MUST HAVE THE BACKLIGHT ON FOR MOST TASKS!!! You'll probably memorize the locations of the buttons after awhile, but turning on the light is the first thing I do!
Maybe I'm foolish, but all of my components come on simultaneosly because I have them plugged in to each other.
That eliminates the need to set up the macros even though I thought it was a good idea to make those buttons available.
Hopefully, I'll end up with some gadgets to necessitate using the macro feature (ie, lights, etc).
All in all, I love this remote. I can't wait to show it off. I think this will be a keeper, especially as I add more components to my system!!!

Strengths:
Blue display

Weaknesses:
Setting it up

In my judgment the advantage of the MG 1.6 (and other Magneplars), stems from the following: = It is a full-range dipole, and = It has uses low-mass, planar drivers for the whole audio spectrum. These attributes account for its extraordinary clarity, coherence, “air”...
