The TMT-30 speaker stands are rigid, high quality, and stylish. The three metal poles can be filled with sand or pellets to help control resonance in the stand. The pair comes with floor spikes that help stabilize the stands on carpet, but also come with small discs so you can use the spikes on wood and hardfloor. There are gold and silver nuts that cover the top of the spikes as well.
I have owned these stands for over 5 years, and I am very satisifed with them. I have speakers very similar in design to the WilsonAudio CUBII, two 6.5" drivers surrounding a 1" tweeter. Each speaker cabinet weighs a hefty 75 lbs, and these speaker stands handle them with ease. The stands are very rigid and have an excellent build quality. They look fantastic and add virtually no coloration to the sound due to the rubber isolation pods on the top plate.
Stereo imaging and the soundstage improved dramatically by raising the speakers up 30" from the gound. The bass is so much more controlled and less boomy. The mids and highs are much more apparent now. Strengths:
Top build quality of thick guage steel, adjustable spikes with included floor protectors for resting in carpet or on floor, rubber isolation pods and fillable tubes to control stand vibration/resonance, and very stylish industrial look. Weaknesses:
The only downside to these stands is the top plate: it is slightly small for my speakers, which measure approx. 10" wide, 15" deep, and 30" tall. One time a friend was messing around close to the right speaker and he bumped the speaker and stand over, luckily no damage occurred, since my beautiful cherry study table caught the speaker, but if you have a very busy environment with kids or pets, be careful.
