Summary:
The 706 is a rack that has the available space to hold 8 double stacked components. Keep in mind that the lower component on each stack gets a bit warmer. The shelves are perforated sheet metal and could be made from a heavier gage of steal. I noticed that the shelves sage in the rear after a few months from the cantilevering weight settling in. The flexing occurs where the shelves screw into the rear vertical support tubes. The black painted finish was nice but the hardware could have been more solid since this is not a welded rack. The fitting of the parts matched well with all of the screw holes lining up.
With all 8 components installed the rack tended to wobble to the left and right some when setting directly on a carpeted floor. Placing spikes under the rack helped. I strongly recommend placing the spikes and rack exactly where you want it first. The rack does not liked to be tipped back since the feet in the rear have a more narrow spacing then those in the front of the rack. The appearance of the rack looks nice and very modern when fully assembled and adds to the decor of most any room.

The wire management system consists of a rectangular metal tube screwed to the back of the shelves and was tricky to deal with. Note: the wire channel is not load bearing but adds to the shelves total burden. The exit holes leading out to each of the shelves are a tad sharp along the edges so care is needed when pulling connecting cables through the wire guide. The guide itself was not large enough to handle the necessary wires needed to connect (1) AV Rec., (3) Int. Amps, (2) CD Players, and (2) Tape Decks. Only half of the wires fit. The rest needed to be wire wrapped to the outside of the wire guide itself.

Overall, an above average piece of audio equipment that would be a better served if it were not so pricey for the build. The $400.00 price range offers lots of other racks that are more ridged, and offer better dampening and isolation for your stereo equipment. The rack’s form as a furniture element is very European and modern, but could use a little more function to its overall design.
