from Audio Advisor Summary: After reading a lot of good things about TDS and what their little devices can do to your system, I decided to give it a try and bought a TDS Passive Audiophile Sound Enhancer at the Audio Advisor company. It took awhile before I finally received it but once installed in my system, I soon discovered all the waiting has been worth it. With the TDS installed and active the soundstage becomes bigger, deeper and wider whereas the sound itself becomes a bit warmer and simply more pleasant to listen to. It gives you that 'Oh yeah!'-feeling everytime you stop to listen to your hifi system.
At first I thought the TDS worked on the same way that the old loudness button did by making the sound more pleasant by giving the mid low frequencies a boost. But after some extended listening sessions I think the TDS does far more than that: the whole frequency spectrum from deep low to the highest notes are in a way enhanced in a positive way.
I have little clue as to how the TDS device actually works but my ears tell me that it does work and that it is worth every cent I paid for it. I wouldn't buy it I think if I owned an entire Mark Levinson or Krell system but for all of us who don't own systems that expensive, I think the TDS is a welcome addition.
One word of warning though: make sure your TDS unit is placed at a decent distance from your other gear because otherwise it is possible that it will pick up some noise and hum which will be clearly audible. But if you take that into account, the TDS could be just what you need in order to take your system one step up to musical ecstacy. Strengths: Really enhances the sound of your system making it both more pleasant and more informatine and real at the same time Weaknesses: Sensitive electronics inside; can pick up hum quite easily if you have placed it too close to your other gear Similar Products Used: None
