We are on our second cleaner. We wore out the first one and broke the clear plastic door off, so finally bought another one. It does a fantastic job of cleaning moldy tapes. We have lived in the jungles of Venezuela for 16 years where we have high humidity. We have had to clean the video tapes often. This machine is soooo much faster than using a T-shirt and alcohol and pulling all the tape out of the cassette and then rewinding the tape back in, all by hand!!!
Also, having it (dry) clean each tape when we rewound it was helpful also. I wouldn't be without it. We've had it over 12 years (the last one for at least 5 years). Strengths:
The only machine we've ever heard of that physically cleans the video tapes. Seems much better built than regular rewinders. Weaknesses:
