Bottom Line: This hardware was sold by DAK Industries during the second half of the 1980's. Retail back then was $160 U$D. I have owned (2). Today, they show up on eBay from time to time. This unit has a matched, -tuned microphone that should be included with it. Most sellers on eBay seem to lack this microphone. Lack of this mic seriously hinders the use of this as an application-tool to balance your environment;s acoustics. This equalizer was a decent tool for consumer audio adjustments. However, --keep in mind that they are coming up on 30 years post production and electrolytic capacitors are subject to deterioration --which is particularly detrimental to electronics such as equalizers. The pink-noise spectrum analyzer in these units can assist you in determining if the equalizer has a consistent curve across each of the bands by comparing gains & losses across each band and comparing right with left channels -- watching the analyzer as you slide each octave controller up and down and then that of the other channel. Gains & attenuations should be symmetrical & consistent between channels. Don't overpay for one of these units. 25+ years ago, --they were $160 -NEW. Adjusting for inflation, --you shouldn't pay more than $99 (total) for one in MINT condition with the manual, & Mic. Remember, --time ages components like capacitors so time is the enemy of equalizers. At some point in the near future, ALL of these are going to need to be serviced due to cap failure.

Bottom Line: A solid unit (UL file ties to Nakamaichi, so possibly a low-end line from them under the BSR name). 10 bands/channel with +/-15dB range, realtime spectrum display with 20dB/30dB range select and variable attenuator, subsonic filter (for turntable rumble etc.) Two tape loops plus a source loop, tape dubbing in either direction or from source.
Closed loop equalization possible with supplied mic and pink noise generator: results are strange with my very-non-flat speakers, with overcompensation and unnatural sound. Can be used as a guide though.

Bottom Line: Good bang for the buck. I've used mine for 8 + years without any problems. Features pink noise generator with mic helps with set-up. + or - 15db with 10 bands per channel. Not the best EQ by any means but it has a lot of nice features and can improve almost any system. For under $50.00 at ebay these EQs are a bargain. 220 element display is cool to. Overall this is a very nice EQ that will give someone joy for years to come.
