from DAK Summary: A solid unit (UL file ties to Nakamaichi, so possibly a low-end line from them under the BSR name). 10 bands/channel with +/-15dB range, realtime spectrum display with 20dB/30dB range select and variable attenuator, subsonic filter (for turntable rumble etc.) Two tape loops plus a source loop, tape dubbing in either direction or from source.
Closed loop equalization possible with supplied mic and pink noise generator: results are strange with my very-non-flat speakers, with overcompensation and unnatural sound. Can be used as a guide though. Strengths: Low cost, works well, very reliable. Fairly pretty, with red LEDs for sliders, and blue vacuum fluroscent display for realtime spectral graph. No audible line hum. No scratchy controls after 10+ years, rare for linear pots. Weaknesses: Reduces SNR of signal passed through it considerably. Unit also *backstreams* some noise in to the record loop of attached equipment, such that even when the eq loop is not selected (on the receiver) the unit still feeds noise in.
Settings are physical sliders, so no presets, which is a pain for ten bands per channel.
