7/26/2009: Met an Onyko rep on vacation in 1998 & he recommended the 828 as "the unit to buy" if I was in the market. When asked why, he said: 1.) value/price: hundreds less than 900 series with pretty much the same functions, 2.) weight (a whopping 37.5 lbs.) which speaks to quality components & 3.) it would stay current for years to come...So I bought one from Hupping (now OneCall). The rep was right. After 11 faithful year of service this unit continues to impress me. It looks & plays like new. My 828 is hooked up to Atlantic Technologies 250 series speakers for movies & Yamaha NS-500 for music. This unit continues to put a smile on my face when listening to music, but in the past few years has left me wanting more from my surround speakers when watching movies. After researching options, I decided to add a used, like new ED-310 processor instead of purchasing a new Onyko AV receiver. To say I am satisfied with my purchase is an understatement. My system is quasi current & this upgrade saved my at least $600-$1000. I am an Onyko customer for life because of my experience.
