from Audio Video Showcase Summary: This is a great TV! The picture quality is amazing when viewing high-quality sources (DVD, HDTV, etc). Standard television looks good, but does not utilize the TV's full potential.
The built-in speakers are above average quality for a television and perform adequately for TV viewing.
I found that "Pro" picture preset was close to perfect out of the box and very little tweaking was needed to fine-tune the picture (using Digital Video Essentials). The other preset picture settings were all awful in their own unique way.
There are enough inputs for most consumers. Anyone needing more inputs should be using a receiver/pre-amp for switching anyway. There are four composite/S-video, two component and one DVI. One of the composite/S-video inputs is in the front of the TV. This is nice for convenience, considering moving this hefty TV can be a task. This front input can be concealed with a flip cover when not in use.
The memory stick slot is a nice gimmicky feature for anyone that has a digital camera/camcorder that uses that over-priced medium... so far, I have not used it.
My primary irritation with the TV is that you must cycle through inputs one-by-one. It would nice to be able to select your input through a menu as you can with most Toshiba TVs. The other annoyance is the menu system. Although I have not had to access the menu system often after the initial setup, it is rather clunky. Plus, when setting the picture attributes there is only a set of horizontal set of bars from left to right, no numbers! Therefore, you cannot record your picture settings after tweaking, which is rather frustrating.
It is an expensive TV, but the price is justified. The matching stand from Sony was thrown in for free with my purchase. That was a nice perk.
At the end of the day, the awesome picture quality makes up for the few annoyances and I am very pleased with my purchase. Strengths: Picture quality is amazing
Number and types of inputs
Good speakers (as far as TV speakers go...)
Did I mention the picture quality? Weaknesses: Weight - 300+ lbs. I moved it in with one of my friends. We're pretty big guys, but it was not an enjoyable experience. My condo is on the second floor!
Must cycle through inputs one-by-one - very annoying.
