– Maximizing Versatility & Connectivity, New 4” High SlimLine Chassis,

Advanced Network Technologies, Front-Panel Inputs and More –

Â

Mahwah, New Jersey, May 9, 2012 – Marantz, a world leader of advanced home entertainment solutions, today introduced the latest additions to its popular SlimLine Series ofaudio/video receivers. The new models include the 7.1-channel NR1603 (SRP: $649.99) and the 5.1-channel NR1403 (SRP: $399.99) both of which are scheduled to ship this spring.

Â

Content Is King… and the NR1603 is a Crowning Achievement!
The 7.1-channel NR1603 is a completely integrated home entertainment receiver that not only delivers pristine audio and video quality but also incorporates an array of features that provide simple, common-sense solutions for maximizing all the benefits of today’s content-rich consumer market.

Apple’s AirPlay® is just one of the exciting features that make the NR1603 an invaluable centerpiece to any audio/video system and to the “connected entertainment space” of a networked home. AirPlay allows users to customize soundtracks for their home by unleashing their iTunes music libraries through a Mac, PC or an iPhone®, iPad® or iPod touch®*. The NR1603 also features a front panel USB input for audio and photo playback from most USB-enabled devices. The same connection supports iPod Digital Direct, for improved sound quality from any iPhone, iPad or iPod.

The NR1603 is also equipped with Marantz’s new advanced networking technologies that allow users to access online content such as Internet Radio, Pandora and Sirius-XM**. In addition to these services, thanks to its DLNA 1.5 compliance, users have the option to connect a wide array of DLNA devices for playback through the NR1603. To make the experience intuitive, seamless and straightforward, Marantz’s new GUI features an improved design with richer graphics, multi-platform support and an enhanced feature set promoting faster browsing.

Both the NR1603 and NR1403 feature a front panel HDMI input for the quick and easy connection of HDMI-equipped temporary sources such as cameras, camcorders, and even gaming consoles. Both receivers also include the complete suite of Audyssey enhancements, including MultEQ, Dynamic Volume, and Dynamic EQ. The NR1603 features a 1080 i/p video scaler for higher video quality from all sources, a total of 6 HDMI inputs and 1 HDMI output.

Like the NR1603, the NR1403 proves itself to be a robust centerpiece for any home theater setup. Equipped with an all-discrete amplifier section custom tuned by Marantz audio engineers, the NR1403 delivers a superior sonic experience, delivering 50 watts through each of its 5 channels. The front-panel HDMI input allows users to quickly and easily connect camcorders as well as iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch to view photos and video or listen to music. The new Graphical User Interface is superimposed on the video source, and provides ease in making adjustments during program playback. When used in conjunction with the optional RX-101 Bluetooth receiver, the rear panel M-XPort, found on all Marantz AV receivers, facilitates audio playback from Bluetooth-enabled devices. Like all Marantz AV receivers, the NR1403 employs M-DAX2 circuitry for improved sound quality from compressed music sources. With improved ease of system setup, the NR1403 also features an auto power off feature, and a total of 6 HDMI inputs, and 1 HDMI output.

Refined Sound Quality, Robust Feature Set and Capabilities
Housed in their sleek new SlimLine chassis, just 4” high, the new receivers are packed with advanced Marantz technologies for refined sound quality. Marantz’s audio heritage is reflected in every aspect of the new SlimLine Series receivers, which deliver a stunning level of musicality, with brilliance in timbre, scale and dynamics. Both the NR1403 andNR1603 are equipped with a full complement of Audyssey audio technologies for immersive, high-quality surround sound. Audyssey MultEQ automatically calibrates and adjusts the loudspeakers to provide optimum sound for the specific acoustics of any listening environment. Thanks to Audyssey Dynamic Volume users can minimize the annoying, unexpected volume changes that can occur within programming and between broadcast channels. Audyssey Dynamic EQ automatically maintains proper tonal balance and surround speaker output at all listening levels.

Hong Kong, November 24, 2011 – ITOK Media Limited’s innovative Hi-Fi brand “Trends Audio” launched its new innovative Hi-Fi product – Trends BA-10 Bi-amp Audio System. Combining the latest release of Trends PA-10.1D Tube Pre amplifier with two output and highly acclaimed two Trends TA-10.2 SE Power Amplifier, Trends BA-10 Bi-amp Audio System provide the perfect way of integrating your speakers with sonic sound. Easy to use and sound quality this good is now available in a size and price that the music lover can afford, and is no longer the exclusive domain of larger “audiophile” systems.

“As all we know, the sonic rewards are outstanding in a bi-amp system. There will be many obvious improvements in the sound, everything will be clearer and tighter. Trends BA-10 Bi-amp Audio System is use of two Trends TA-10.2 SE Power amplifiers and Trends PA-10.1D Tube amplifier provides sufficient driving power to two power amps concurrently”, say David Ho, the marketing director of Trends Audio.〃 With this arrangement each TA-10.2 amplifier operates over a restricted frequency range. This restricted range presents each TA-10.2 amplifier with a much simpler job and each TA-10.2 amplifier is less likely to “influence” the sound in some way. The speaker’s internal crossover consists of a LPF (low pass filter) and a HPF (high pass filter)”.

Anthem Statement M1 Amplifier Redefines Class D Category

Â

The one kilowatt, single rack unit Class D mono power amplifier outperforms its class with sophisticated monitoring circuits that maintain proper frequency response, even when powering the heaviest speaker loads using a 120V line.

Toronto, ON – November 9, 2011 – Anthem, the leading manufacturer of high-end electronics for music, home theater and distributed audio systems, is now shipping the Anthem Statement M1.  Anthem’s game-changing monaural powerhouse annihilates conventional audiophile wisdom about Class D amplification with flawless fidelity and full dynamic range across all volume levels, flat frequency response and rock-solid stability into even the most difficult loads, no “dead time” crossover distortion, and virtually no noise floor.

What’s more, the M1 makes such radical improvements over previous Class D amplifier designs while still maintaining all of the benefits that Class D design brings to the table. Class D architecture provides tremendous value over traditional Class A and Class AB designs because of its efficient output and smaller form factor, both of which the M1 perfectly embodies. Its heat pipe cooling system and deep side-mounted heat sinks allow multiple M1s, with feet removed, to be rack-mounted directly on one another, each occupying only a single rack unit. Its fanless design also makes the M1 as well-suited for the quietest of listening rooms as it is the most crowded equipment closets.

“The Anthem design team conceptualized the M1 almost 10 years ago, illustrating just how much in-house design and engineering went into producing this amplifier,” said Mark Aling, director of marketing for Anthem. “More than just a slim, technologically advanced monaural, the M1 demonstrates that Class D architecture isn’t fundamentally flawed, it merely hasn’t been implemented well in the past, mainly because it required such a heavy commitment to R&D. We’re fortunate to have the resources necessary to create such a groundbreaking product and strongly believe our customers will appreciate the effort.”

Don’t be confused by the “D” in “Class D”—the Statement M1 is not a digital amplifier. It boasts all the warmth and clarity of a traditional amp, in addition to a temporal resolution more than 80 times that of the audiophile-favorite SACD format, and does so with an astounding amount of power. While Anthem’s own award-winning Statement P5, for example, outputs 500 watts with a 4-ohm load, the M1 delivers 2,000 watts to the same speaker, with total harmonic distortion remaining under 0.1% from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. (Into 8 ohms, it delivers 1000 watts with a less than 0.06% total harmonic distortion.) And frequency response is load-independent, so the difference in response between a 2-ohm load and an open circuit is an astounding 0.1 dB at 20 kHz. Between 4 ohms and 8 ohms there is absolutely no change in frequency response.

The Statement M1 attains this level of power, performance, and consistency through the employment of a few key technologies, including a proprietary load monitoring system that relies on a Digital Signal Processor—outside the signal path!—to monitor line voltage, output current, ground fault detection, temperature, and DC voltage at the output to ensure the highest possible output from either a 120V or 240V circuit. Power Factor Correction maximizes available power by marrying the voltage and current cycles, enabling continuous output from the power supply through the entire AC cycle without contaminating the AC line with noise.

While all of this innovation adds up to an amplifier that is admittedly not inexpensive, the Anthem Statement M1 nonetheless represents an unparalleled value in terms of price versus performance, with ample headroom to drive even the most power-hungry speakers, and the utmost in clarity and focus demanded by the most discerning listeners.

The Anthem Statement M1 is shipping now, with a US MRSP of $3499 and $3799 Canadian. More information on Anthem can be found at www.anthemAV.com.

Both these new additions to the series feature a sleek new design, with seamless, rock-solid construction and no visible screw heads, making them ideal for integration into high-end home entertainment systems.
PM-15S2 Limited Integrated Amplifier: Best Sound, From Both Digital Music and Vinyl
The Marantz PM-15S2 is designed from the ground up to deliver a powerful, rich and luxurious music listening experience. It features a host of innovative design attributes, some first introduced in Marantz’ award-winning MA-9S2 monoblock amplifier. The unit features a Marantz engineered HDAM-SA3 module for high slew rate, with low noise and a highly resolved sonic character. The custom-wound torrodial power transformer anchors a high current, regulated power supply newly tuned for quick response, and twin 20,000 micofarad filter capacitors custom made for Marantz provide huge current reserves for enhanced bass control. The PM-15S2 delivers 90 watts per channel into 8 ohms, with DC servo for superior low frequency response.

For vinyl enthusiasts, the PM-15S2 features a moving magnet phono stage that delivers the very best sound possible from a connected turntable, and the vivid audio imaging afforded by a digitally controlled analog volume stage boosts channel to channel accuracy within .5 dB. In addition, the unit’s HDAM-SA2 modules are deployed in a buffer configuration at the CD input for enhanced linearity. A special B-mode setting makes it possible to operate two PM-15S2 amps and mono-integrated amplifiers for total left-right channel isolation while a power amp direct input allows for compete integration with a home theater processor at the touch of a button. The PM-15S2 is ideal for pairing with Marantz’ critically acclaimed TT-15S1 high-performance turntable.

SA-15S2 Reference Series Super Audio CD/CD Player
Ever since it announced the world’s first CD player, Marantz has led the way in offering advanced digital playback with an unwavering focus on sound quality. With its Marantz custom SACDM 10-disc mechanism, the SA-15S2 Limited Super Audio CD/CD Player reflects this tradition, outperforming virtually all players in its class. Capable of playing CDs, CD-Rs, CR-RWs, and stereo SACDs, the SA-15S2 combines several significant technical accomplishments to enhance musical enjoyment. The audiophile-grade components have been re-voiced for greater speed and harmonic balance, and the Marantz designed linear power supply anchors an outsized torroidal transformer to provide the voltage stability and freedom from noise necessary for best audio performance. The advanced transport mechanism employs resonance-resistant composite Xyron and is mounted to a heavyweight aluminum billet base for virtually vibration free response. Additionally, the SA-15S2 boasts a superb Cirrus Logic CS4398 high-current DAC with 24-bit/192 kHz resolution for music reproduction with the speed and immediacy of a live performance. Selectable interpolation filters allow for a slight tailoring of the response to suit individual systems, while an optical input allows for the use of external digital sources.

Special audiophile grade decoupling capacitors help deliver crisp, clean power to the all-important DAC stages for enhanced audio transparency and a noise-free background, while HDAM SA2 modules are utilized throughout the analog output stage for wide dynamic range and the best possible fidelity. Finally, audiophile-grade foil film capacitors and metallic film resistors are employed at critical points in the topology to further enhance performance.

AV receivers are getting more and more powerful, and their feature sets are getting more and more expansive. For some, the critical price/performance breakpoint comes at around $5-$600. At that price you start to get advanced features like video upconversion to HDMI and amplifiers that can be re-routed to a second Zone. So what does Denon have to offer above and beyond that with its AVR 3312CI receiver, that’s priced at twice that. I mean what do you really get for $1100?

ProLogue Premium Review

If you have watched Jeremy Clarkson rant about the roar and wild aggression of a Lamborghinis you’ll know that raw power can more than simulate this man. But he constantly speaks better of sports cars with more technology, smoother rides, stereos, and a sense of class. So obviously power isn’t everything. Â The PrimaLuna ProLogue Premium would fall into Clarkson’s more recommend class. Read on to find out why.

Kevin Deal, the U.S. PrimaLuna importer, is quick to point out that when he was asked by Herman van der Dugen to be involved in the PrimaLuna project he was initially apprehensive. Point of fact, he even said a polite no to the first request. But, after a prototype landed on his doorstep he quickly changed his mind as clearly Herman was on to something. And Kevin was seeing the light.

Having sold tubes and hi-fi audio gear for longer than he would care to admit, Kevin has dealt with all kinds of issues. One of his better stories involves an elderly couple who nearly electrocuted themselves when sticking a screw driver into the circuit board area of an amplifier while it was on. Kevin realized that even though many tube amplifiers sound fantastic it wasn’t obvious to everyone that they lacked some basic design fail safes and consideration. Accordingly, when he came aboard the PrimaLuna project he wanted those issues addressed and his concerns were met with enthusiasm and action. So now, as Kevin is fond of saying, PrimaLuna is like a BMW which to me means it has the excitement of a sports car, the gadgets and feature set of a town car, and the computer controlled safety features that keep one from over steering off the street and into a tree. What, however, does that mean in terms of the amplifier?
