These speakers may be small (440mm x 220mm x 360mm) but they are heavy! They weigh 14kg's each which is a lot for their small size. Also they packed a hell of a lot of punch for their small frames, practically deafening me as I turned up the volume! The I-91 uses a single 115mm fibreglass cone in a rubber surround with 2 50mm ports in the front baffle.
The imaging and definition that these speakers demonstrate is nothing short of remarkable, placement in the sound stage is precise and you can almost see the musicians playing along next to you in your lounge room. The bass was extremely tight and responsive and surprisingly deep for such a small speaker, however they did lack a bit on deep organ notes as was to be expected from a speaker this size. The midrange and high's were smooth and pleasant and exposed the Offspring's "Pretty Fly for a White Guy" as a poorly produced pop song (as was to be expected). However, play some Tom Waits or Bruce Springsteen from the "Dead Man Walking" soundtrack and you are as close as you can get to being in the studio with them. These speakers would make an excellent centre speaker for your home theatre system or even as rear effects speaker or possible all round with a sub woofer as well. Very well made speakers.
