B&W DM602 S3
This is the largest of the bookshelf / stand-mount models in the range. Although similar in concept to the DM601 S3, the DM602 S3 enjoys the benefits of a larger cabinet and a 180mm (7-in) woven Kevlar® cone bass / midrange driver to give a more extended bass response and higher output capability. It is therefore the bookshelf solution for medium size rooms.
The outer layer of the double skinned baffle construction is moulded from mica-filled polypropylene – strong yet well damped acoustically. The profile is attractively contoured, the rounded vertical edges reducing diffraction – the secondary radiation of sound from sharp edges that can time-smear the clarity of fine detail in the signal.
The LCR60 S3 centre speaker would normally be used to partner the DM602 S3 in home theatre systems, but larger rooms may benefit from the extra output capability of the LCR600 S3.

Slimmer than its predecessor, the DM603 S3 is a 2½-way floorstander. The lower 165mm (6½-in) aluminium cone driver features B&W''s mushroom construction and is restricted to bass frequencies only, where it operates in parallel with the Kevlar® cone bass / midrange driver. The reduced excursion demand on the bass / midrange unit reduces distortion, not only in the bass, but also in the midrange when accompanied by heavy bass. The result is greater clarity at higher replay levels.
The tweeter response in the ultrasonic region is improved for Series 3, recognising the needs of the new high resolution recording formats.
The well extended bass response and substantial output capability make the DM603 S3 fully at home in medium to large size rooms. In home theatre systems, partner with the LCR600 S3 centre speaker.

Twin 180mm (7-in) aluminium cone bass drivers combine with Flowport to deliver the deepest bass frequencies with ease. Like all the vented-box systems in the range, foam plugs are supplied to block the ports should the acoustic of the listening room impose too much bass reinforcement.

Bose had a hit on its hands when it released theAcoustimass-5 to stereo listeners. The Bose Acoustimass-15 transforms the AM-5's dual-cube design from two-channel stereo to five-channel surround sound. Each cube contains a tiny driver that turns on a hinge, allowing you to tailor the proportions of direct and reflected sound to your acoustic setting and listening tastes.Since the satellite speakers are rather small, Bose also gives you a large subwoofer module to beef up the bass, and says it can go pretty much anywhere in the room. Unlike the subwoofer in the less costly AM-10 system, the AM-15's sub is active, meaning self-powered. That in turn makes this system more directly comparable to other sat-and-sub systems on the market, which typically include powered subs.
