Price Paid: $169.00 from Circuit City Summary I bought this unit approximately 1 year ago on sale.I had high hopes, because my former Onkyo cd player, the C370,lasted about 6 years of continuous use.I used it mostly in the random mode and it stood up quite well. When it finally died,I tried other units from Sony, but except for one unit,I was diasppointed. When I saw this unit(the C390) on sale,I went for it.Initially,I was pleased. The unit is solid and built like a tank.It sounded good and matched well with my Onkyo receiver. However, after approximately one year of use,it started giving me the following problems:in random, the unit wouldn't stop to play a disc. When played in regular mode,it wouldn't play the disc. When I tried to remove the discs, the drawer would not open to allow removal of the cds. After 30 minutes with the power off,the drawer opened and allowed the discs to be removed.Needless to say,I don't trust the unit now and have not played it since.Since it is past the 1 year warranty,I'm out of luck.I will say that I was probably hard on this unit, because I played it often ,especially in the random mode. This seems to bane of all new cd players I've tried. The cd makers should make this feature reliable,or quit offering it. Since I am a fan of Onkyo,I just ordered another C390 that is on sale.Let's hope that lasts significantly longer than 1 year. Strength Built like a tank.Great sound. Weakness Won't work in random for long.Developed problems as soon as the warranty expired. Customer Service: I didn't bother. The warranty had expired. Would you like to Comment?
