Price Paid:  $1000.00 from American TV

Summary:
This receiver was an excellent purchase. worth every penny. I bought it shortly after it came out so I paid close to retail but have no regrets. For starters it has Audyssey EQ which you just plug in a mic (supplied); set it where you sit in the room and the receiver figures out speaker distances and decibal levels for you and equalizes based on its programming. You can always go in after its finished and manually adjust anything you don't think is right. But this system works well. It is THX Ultra II certified which is usually unheard of for equipment this cheap. It has many different sound modes and they all work very well. The sound quality is top notch and the receiver can play louder than most people can tolerate. If you have a good set of surround speakers with a sub you will feel like your at the theater and this will play louder than that in moderate size rooms for those who can tolerate it. It has multi-zone capability where it can power 2 speakers in another room while you watch a movie in the main room; but you give up 7.1 capability unless you have a seperate power amp to plug into it.

Strengths:
Bi-Ampable

Push- Pull Power Amp Design (Well Controlled within power specs)

130x7 into a 6ohm load

Dynamic power of 170 watts into 8ohm loads with 2 speakers driven or 270 watts into 4ohm loads. (Professional Review)

Audyssey EQ

3 HDMI Inputs with one output. (does upconvert video signals from non HD sources)

The Remote is sturdy and backlighted.

Weaknesses:
This receiver weighs close to 60 pounds so you may need help carrying it.

It also gets hot after being on for a while so you cannot put anything on top of it.
Make sure it has plenty of ventilation. Do not worry about meltdown because it has internal cooling fans that come on when it reaches a certain temp.

Similar Products Used:
Cerwin Vega VE-12's Main Speakers, Vega VE-5M's Surround Back speakers, Polk Audio M10's Side Surround Speakers, Audio Research PSC 25 Center channel and a Cerwin Vega CVHD-12S Subwoofer. other equipment would include a Panasonic 27" Flat Screen HDTV, a Panasonic 5 disc DVD/CD changer and Panasonic VCR (still working old).
